During August 2009-July 2010, we conducted 7 longitudinal telephone surveys among 503 adults in Hong Kong, China, to explore changes in their behavioral and psychological responses to the influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus epidemic. Trends were examined using generalized estimating equations models. Findings showed that responses varied with the course of the pandemic.

In this article, we propose to estimate the regression parameters in a semiparametric generalized linear model by moment estimating equations. These estimators are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. We present two estimators of the nonparametric part, provide conditions for the existence and uniform consistency, and obtain faster rates of convergence under weaker assumptions.

We used generalized estimating equations to quantify the impact of recent vaccination or intercurrent infections on immune and inflammatory biomarkers among 144 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected adults with HIV RNA < 50 copies/mL on antiretroviral therapy. These events were associated with a 2.244 µg/mL increase in high sensitivity C-reactive protein and should be routinely assessed i...

An iterative algorithm for estimating the Moore-Penrose generalized inverse is developed. The main motive for the construction of algorithm is simultaneous usage of Penrose equations (2) and (4). Convergence properties of the introduced method are considered as well as their first-order and the second-order error terms. Numerical experience is also presented. AMS Subj. Class.: 15A09.

In studies that involve multivariate outcomes it is often of interest to test for a common exposure effect. For example, our research is motivated by a study of neurocognitive performance in a cohort of HIV-infected women. The goal is to determine whether highly active antiretroviral therapy affects different aspects of neurocognitive functioning to the same degree and if so, to test for the tr...
