Abstract. The enumeration of perfect matchings of graphs is equivalent to the dimer problem which has applications in statistical physics. A graph G is said to be n-rotation symmetric if the cyclic group of order n is a subgroup of the automorphism group of G. The enumeration of perfect matchings of graphs with reflective symmetry was studied extensively in the past. In this paper we consider t...

PURPOSE The purpose of our study was to investigate the functional outcome after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) and quadrupled semitendinosus and gracilis tendon (ST/G) autografts by evaluating stride-to-stride variability. METHODS Six patients with BPTB and 6 patients with STG ACL reconstruction, 2 years postoperatively, and 6 healthy c...

The thermodynamic parameters for the intercalative interaction of structurally related well known intercalators, 9-aminoacridine (9AA) and proflavine (PF) were determined by means of fluorescence quenching study. The fluorescence intensity of 9AA decreased upon intercalation to DNA, poly[d(A-T)2] and poly[d(G-C)2]. A van’t Hoff plot was constructed from the temperature-dependence of slope of th...

We present an argument reinterpreting the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) and its associated minimal length as effective variation of Planck constant ($\hbar$), complementing Dirac's large number hypothesis varying $G$. argue that charge radii (i.e. a scattering process) hadrons/nuclei along with their corresponding masses support existence $\hbar$. This suggests universality in measure...

Abstract The literature on diversity measures, regardless of the metric used (e.g., Gini-Simpson index, Shannon entropy) has a notable gap: not much been done to connect these measures back shape original distribution, or use them compare parts given distribution and their relationship whole distribution. As such, precise quantification between probability each type $p_i$ $D$ in non-uniform dis...

the second law of thermodynamic (entropy principle) is of special theo-philosophical importance. it seems that this law, which is renowned as “the death of software design” and despite the order in the world, is like an incompatible universal. this article examines the concept of entropy in the three temperature, statistic, and information applications and addresses the contradiction of the sec...

In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.

An important concern in the design of validation experiments is how to incorporate the mathematical model in the design in order to allow conclusive comparisons of model prediction with experimental output in model assessment. In this paper, an integrated Bayesian cross entropy methodology is proposed to perform the optimal design of validation experiments incorporating the computational model....

Applying a theorem according to Rhemtulla and Formanek, we partially solve an open problem raised by Hochman with an affirmative answer. Namely, we show that if G is a countable torsion-free locally nilpotent group that acts by homeomorphisms on X, and S ⊂ G is a subsemigroup not containing the unit of G such that f ∈ 〈1, s f : s ∈ S〉 for every f ∈ C(X), then (X, G) has zero topological entropy.

Branched manifolds that describe strange attractors in R can be enclosed in, and are organized by, canonical bounding tori. Tori of genus g are labeled by a symbol sequence, or “periodic orbit”, of period g−1. We show that the number of distinct canonical bounding tori grows exponentially like N(g) ∼ eλ(g−1), with e = 3, so that the “bounding tori entropy” is log(3).
