OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was evaluation of the safety and efficacy of this new combined technology that adds deep ablation to thermal stimulation. BACKGROUND DATA Minimally ablative or subablative lasers, such as fractional CO2 lasers, have been developed in an attempt to achieve the same clinical results observed with traditional ablative lasers, but with fewer side effects. Despi...

We report a limit on the fractional temporal variation of the proton-to-electron mass ratio as 1/(m(P)/m(e)) partial differential/partial differential(t)(m(P)/m(e))=(-3.8+/-5.6) x 10(-14) yr(-1), obtained by comparing the frequency of a rovibrational transition in SF6 with the fundamental hyperfine transition in Cs. The SF6 transition was accessed using a CO2 laser to interrogate spatial 2-phot...

To obtain the maximum output power of a fast-axial-flow CW-CO2 laser, gas flow velocity can be optimized by using genetic algorithms. Our theoretical approach shows that the gas flow velocity after optimization increases the laser output power substantially from 500W, obtained in our present system, to 2203W.

Background This study investigated the effect of post bleaching treatments to the change of enamel elastic modulus and microhardness after dental bleaching in- vitro. Material and Methods Fifty bovine incisor slab were randomly assigned into five groups (n=10). The samples were bleached for three times; 20 minutes each time, by 40% hydrogen peroxide. Next it was applied fractional CO2 laser f...

the aim of this study was to assess the surface of yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zirconia (y-tzp) after surface treatment with lasers and airborne-particle abrasion.first, 77 samples of presintered zirconia blocks measuring 10 × 10 × 2 mm were made, sintered and polished. then, they were randomly divided into 11 groups (n=7) and received surface treatments namely, er:yag laser irradiation with ...

BACKGROUND Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) with various types of lasers promotes fibroblast proliferation and migration during the process of wound healing. Although LLLT with a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser was also reported to promote wound healing, the underlying mechanisms at the cellular level have not been previously described. Herein, we investigated the effect of LLLT with a CO2 laser on fi...

The emission characteristics of debris from laser-produced tin plasma were investigated for an extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) light source. The ions and droplets emitted from tin plasma produced by a CO2 laser or an Nd: YAG laser were detected with Faraday cups and quartz crystal micro-balance (QCM) detectors, respectively. A higher ion kinetic energy and a lower droplet emission were ob...

A significantly improved far-infrared laser has been used to generate optically pumped laser emissions from 26 to 150μm for CD3OH. Using an X–V-pumping geometry, several new laser emissions have been found for CD3OH. In addition, an increase in power, by factors from 10 to 1000, for many of the previously known shorter-wavelength laser lines, below 100μm, has been observed. Frequency measuremen...
