Two peptides [NAPVSIPQ (NAP) and SALLRSIPA (ADNF-9)], that are associated with novel glial proteins regulated by vasoactive intestinal peptide, are shown now to provide protective intervention in a model of fetal alcohol syndrome. Fetal demise and growth restrictions were produced after intraperitoneal injection of ethanol to pregnant mice during midgestation (E8). Death and growth abnormalitie...

Polyhydramnios is defined as excessive accumulation of amniotic fluid. It is associated with inceased incidence of abruptio placenta, preterm birth, cord prolopse and neonatal death (30%). So in this clinical trial, 12 pregnant women with significant polyhydramnios (AFI> 24 cm) and gestational age of 24-32 weeks, received oral Indomethacin at a dose of 100 mg/day for 8 days. AF volume decreased...

risk of HDFN, which can cause fetal anemia, hydrops, and intrauterine fetal death. Babies born with HDFN are at significant risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality [1,2]. Prenatal detection of the fetal RhD status in a pregnant woman with RhD-negative provides useful information for predicting the risk of HDFN and Noninvasive fetal RHD genotyping using cell-free fetal DNA incorporating fetal R...

Massive placental perivillous fibrinoid deposition in the placenta is thought to be an immune-related condition associated with poor perinatal outcomes, including growth restriction and intrauterine fetal demise, with a high risk of recurrence. Rare cases have been associated with Coxsackievirus infection. We present such a case and review the literature.

Parvovirus B19 is a well-established cause of fetal anemia and nonimmune fetal hydrops in pregnancy. Fetal parvovirus infection can cause severe destruction of erythroid progenitor cells, resulting in fetal anemia, hydrops, and intrauterine death. However, viral myocarditis with subsequent heart failure is another possible mechanism for hydrops formation as viral infection of fetal myocardial c...

OBJECTIVES Women have increased risks of severe mental disorders after childbirth and death of a child, but it remains unclear whether this association also applies to fetal loss and, if so, to which extent. We studied the risk of any inpatient or outpatient psychiatric treatment during the time period from 12 months before to 12 months after fetal death. DESIGN Cohort study using Danish popu...

OBJECTIVE Fetal hyperchogenic bowel is associated with a variety of conditions, the incidence of which has yet to be studied. STUDY DESIGN The outcomes of 182 cases of fetal hyperechogenic bowel were reviewed. Screening for maternal toxoplasmosis, fetal karyotyping, and amniotic fluid digestive enzyme assays were performed in all cases. Eight mutations associated with cystic fibrosis were ana...
