This study was performed to investigate the possible involvement of polyamines in the development of cervical cancer. The objective of the present study was therefore to find the specific polyamine indicators, which could be used as useful markers for the early determination of cervical cancer. A simple method for the simultaneous determination of plasma concentrations of five polyamines in nor...

The metabolism of polyamines as well as their functions as growth regulators in plants have been extensively studied for many years. However, almost nothing is known about the biosynthesis and roles of these substances in Phytomonas spp., parasites of several plants. We have used HPLC and electrophoretic analyses to investigate the presence and metabolism of polyamines in Phytomonas Jma strain,...

Polyamine transport in Neurospora crassa is concentrative and energy dependent in a dilute buffer. The saturable systems governing the uptake of putrescine (Km = 0.6 mM), spermidine (Km = ca. 0.24 mM), and spermine (Km = 0.07 mM) share components, as indicated by mutual inhibition among the polyamines. In addition, nonsaturable components prevail for putrescine and spermidine, particularly the ...

critical thinking ability has an important role in education. accordingly, scholars around the world are searching for new ways for teaching and improving students critical thinking ability. in line with the studies in efl contexts supporting the positive relationship between critical thinking and writing performances, this study investigated the differential effects of halverson’s critical thi...

In order to study on different methods of application of polyamines (putrescine, spermine, spermidine) on some morphological, physiological, enzymatic and vase life of Rosa hybrida cv. ‘Dolce Vita’, experiment was conducted as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with 32 treatments, 3 replicates and each replication containing 5 vases, a total of 480 vases were executed. Fir...

Effects of polyamines on various protein kinases were investigated. It was found that both phospholipid-sensitive Ca2+-dependent protein kinase and myosin light-chain kinase (a calmodulin-sensitive species of Ca2+-dependent protein kinase) were inhibited to different degrees by polyamines, with an approximate order of inhibitory potency of spermine = 1, 12-diaminododecane greater than spermidin...

The metabolisms of arginine (Arg), ornithine (Orn), and putrescine were compared in a nontransgenic and a transgenic cell line of carrot (Daucus carota L.) expressing a mouse Orn decarboxylase cDNA. [14C]Arg, [14C]Orn, and [14C]putrescine were fed to cells and their rates of decarboxylation, uptake, metabolism into polyamines, and incorporation into acid-insoluble material were determined. Tran...

in order to determine yield and physiological response of different wheat genotypes to low temperature, many pot and field experiments were conducted in 2007-2008 at the plant physiology laboratory, university of kurdistan, and ghamlo dryland agricultural research station in kurdistan province. in both experiments, the experimental design was a randomized complete block in a split plot arrangem...

High-pressure liquid chromatography analysis of polyamines in bone narrow from leukemic and nonleukemic subjects demonstrated increased concentrations of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine associated with increased cellularity. The most striking abnormality was the marked elevation of putrescine. Bone marrow polyamine analysis may be an adjunct for evaluation of leukemia patients.

There is currently considerable interest in the physiological function(s) of polyamines. Investigations have shown many in vitro interactions of polyamines with various cellular components, particularly deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), and ribosomes; the in vivo role(s) of polyamines is still unclear (H. Tabor and C. W. Tabor, Pharmacol. Rev. 16:245, 1964). This is owing lar...
