This paper describes a self-stabilizing version of an algorithm presented by A. Mazurkiewicz [Inform. Process. Lett. 61 (1997) 233–239] for enumerating nodes by local rules on an anonymous network. The result improves the reliability aspects of the original algorithm and underlines the importance of a non-ambiguous topology for a network. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
The exit time and the exit location of a non-markovian diffusion is analyzed. More particularly, we focus on the so-called self-stabilizing process. The question has been studied by Herrmann, Imkeller and Peithmann in [HIP08]. Some results similar to the ones of Freidlin and Wentzell for classical diffusions have been proved. We aim to provide the same results by a method more intuitive. Our ar...
We examine the task of constructing self-stabilizing real-time decision systems, which take their input from an external environment, and present a series of results concerning compilers which force the property of self-stabilization onto such systems. We consider compilers that do and do not preserve termination applied to nite state and innnite state programs.
Dynamics in a distributed system are self-stabilizing if they are guaranteed to reach a stable state regardless of how the system is initialized. Game dynamics are uncoupled if each player’s behavior is independent of the other players’ preferences. For uncoupled players, recognizing an equilibrium is a distributed computational task. Self-stabilizing uncoupled dynamics, then, capture both resi...
Background: Aging come with muscle weakness and musculoskeletal-related pain. This study aimed to examine the effects of core stabilization exercise on ultrasonic changes of multifidus muscle and chronic low back pain of aged-women. Methods: Twenty-nine aged-women (69±3.4 year old) with chronic low back pain were allocated into core stabilization exercise (9 women) and control (20 women) gro...
The power system stability has been considered as one of great concerns in the power system domain. Power industries are restructured to provide effective utilization of power to more users at lower prices and better power efficiency. Load demand has increased linearly with the increase in number of users. Since stability phenomena limits the transfer capability of the system, there is a need t...
Alberta government resource revenues are highly volatile. Adjustment of government spending to shifts in revenues imposes social and economic costs. To limit the impact of revenue volatility, many jurisdictions have established revenue stabilization funds. There is little empirical evidence on whether these funds improve welfare or whether some fund designs increase welfare by more than others....
An increasing ecological awareness and greater efforts on a global scale to reverse processes of environmental degradation give rise to new forms of social and economic conflict-a "politics of resource stabilization"-which political ecology theorists have yet to fully explore. Blaikie and Brookfield (1987) argue that the long-term payback period of capital-intensive and natural reclamation proc...
Within this paper, we explore the technical and economic feasibility of very low stabilization of atmospheric GHG concentration based on the hybrid model REMIND-R. The Fourth Assessment Report of the IPCC and the scientific literature have analyzed some low stabilization scenarios but with as yet little attention being given to the regional distribution of the global mitigation costs. Our study...
