Introduction: Video games are common cultural issues with great influence in all societies. One of the important cognitive effects of video games is on creating stress on video players. The present research objective was to study different types of stress in players based on video game styles. Methods: A total of 80 players, aged 18 to 30 years, played four types of video games; Ru...
We consider a zero sum differential game with lack of observation on one side. The initial state of the system is drawn at random according to some probability μ0 on IR N . Player I is informed of the initial position of state while player II knows only μ0. Moreover Player I observes Player II’s moves while Player II is blind and has no further information. We prove that in this game with a ter...
We illustrate a differential oligopoly game where firms compete à la Cournot in homogeneous goods in the market phase, and invest in advertising activities aimed at increasing consumers’ reservation price. Such investments produce external effects, characterizing the advertising activity as a public good. We derive the open-loop and the closed-loop Nash equilibria, and show that the properties ...
An important issue addressed by Behavioural Ecology is that of the evolutionary relevance of foraging strategies adopted by animals in quest of a patchily distributed resource, both in terms of diet selection and patch-leaving decisions under competition. We revisit the classical model of diet selection concerning an isolated—not subject to competition— forager; it yields a zero-one rule —a typ...
An application of reinforcement learning to a linear-quadratic, differential game is presented. The reinforcement learning system uses a recently developed algorithm, the residual-gradient form of advantage updating. The game is a Markov decision process with continuous time, states, and actions, linear dynamics, and a quadratic cost function. The game consists of two players, a missile and a p...
We study a zero sum differential game under strong assumptions of convexity — the cost is convex for one player, and concave for the other. An explicit necessary and sufficient condition for a saddle point of the game is given in terms of convex analysis subgradients of the conjugate of the cost function. A generalized Hamiltonian equation is shown to describe saddle trajectories of the game.
An open-loop two-person zero-sum linear quadratic (LQ for short) stochastic differential game is considered. The controls for both players are allowed to appear in both the drift and diffusion of the state equation, the weighting matrices in the payoff/cost functional are not assumed to be definite/nonsingular, and the cross-terms between two controls are allowed to appear. A forward-backward s...
We study controllability and stability properties of dynamical systems when actuator or sensor signals are under attack. We formulate a detailed adversary model that considers different levels of privilege for the attacker such as read and write access to information flows. We then study the impact of these attacks and propose reactive countermeasures based on game theory. In one case-study we ...
A zero-sum stochastic differential game problem on infinite horizon with continuous and impulse controls is studied. We obtain the existence of the value of the game and characterize it as the unique viscosity solution of the associated system of quasi-variational inequalities. We also obtain a verification theorem which provides an optimal strategy of the game. Mathematics Subject Classificati...
