The exchange of the monocarboxylate ligand of the zirconium methacrylate oxocluster Zr(6)O(4)(OH)(4)(OMc)(12) (OMc = CH(2)=CH(CH(3))COO) with dicarboxylic acids (trans, trans muconic acid and terephthalic acid) leads to porous zirconium dicarboxylates exhibiting the UiO-66 architecture; the mild reaction conditions allow the control of their particle size.

Nanosized CuO-CeO2, CuO-Fe2O3, CuO-CeO2-Al2O3 and CuO-Fe2O3-CeO2-Al2O3 were prepared by co-precipitation and wet impregnation techniques and were used for Catalytic decomposition of acetylene to produce carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Weight gain technique was used to follow up the catalytic reactions. The results revealed that catalyst chemical composition, catalytic temperature, acetylene flow rate ...

Ni(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O-catalysed regioselective and diastereoselective [3+2]-annulations of aryl oxiranyl-dicarboxylates and indoles via selective C-C bond cleavage of oxirane were revealed. The cycloadditions proceed smoothly with high regio- and diastereoselectivity under mild conditions leading to 1H-furo[3,4-b]indoles in good to excellent yields.

Substituted imidazolinones containing heterocyclic carboxylic acids as substituents and possessing herbicidal properties were synthesized by cyclization of 2-amino-2,3-dimethylbutyramide with heterocyclic ethyl dicarboxylates under mild conditions. The use of NaH as base leads to a significant increase in the reaction rate and allows the preparation of the target compounds in high yields.

We synthesised aryl acetylene derivatives as versatile probes for labelling of oligonucleotides. RNA oligomers bearing an aryl acetylene molecule rapidly reacted with benzylazide derivatives under ligand-free click reaction conditions.

Transport systems for C4-dicarboxylates, such as malate, fumarate and succinate, are poorly understood in Gram-positive bacteria. The whole genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis revealed two genes, ydbE and ydbH, whose deduced products are highly homologous to binding proteins and transporters for C4-dicarboxylates in Gram-negative bacteria. Between ydbE and ydbH, genes ydbF and ydbG encoding a ...

A novel member of the organic anion transporter (OAT) family, Oat5 (Slc22a19), has been reported to transport a naturally occurring mycotoxin, ochratoxin A (OTA). However, neither its endogenous substrate and driving force nor physiological functions have been determined. Herein, we report the functional characterization of rat Oat5 (rOat5), as well as its intrarenal distribution and membrane l...

This study examines the transport of 2-oxoglutarate (2-OG) and other dicarboxylates during ammonia assimilation in illuminated spinach chloroplasts. The transport of all dicarboxylates examined was strongly inhibited by NH(4)Cl preincubation in the light. Treatment with NH(4)Cl caused a rapid depletion of the endogenous glutamate pool and a corresponding increase in endogenous glutamine content...
