The interactions of nanomaterials with plasma proteins have a significant impact on their in vivo transport and fate in biological fluids. This article discusses the binding of human serum albumin (HSA) to poly(amidoamine) [PAMAM] dendrimers. We use protein-coated silica particles to measure the HSA binding constants (K(b)) of a homologous series of 19 PAMAM dendrimers in aqueous solutions at p...

The selective synthesis of the [Rh5(CO)15](-) cluster within the PPI dendrimer was successfully demonstrated. The dendrimer-encapsulated [Rh5(CO)15](-) was resistant to decomposition under the catalytic reaction conditions and exhibited extremely high selectivity for the chemoselective reduction of nitro groups of various nitro aromatics with other reducible groups using CO/H2O as a reductant.

A simple and versatile dendrimer based platform to deliver therapeutic agents at temperatures within the physiological range, is reported. Lipoic acid conjugated at the periphery of the thermosensitive dendrimer formulations undergoes slow and sustained release at 37-42 °C, and rescues the cells from oxidative stress and a pro-inflammatory endotoxic agent.

A dendrimer is an artificially manufactured or synthesized molecule built up from branched units called monomers. In this paper, we shall give the exact formulas for the first-connectivity, second-connectivity indices and polynomials, PI and vertex-PI indices and polynomials of an infinite class of dendrimer nanostars.

Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer-based nanodevices are of recent interest in targeted cancer therapy. Characterization of mono- and multifunctional PAMAM-based nanodevices remains a great challenge because of their molecular complexity. In this work, various mono- and multifunctional nanodevices based on PAMAM G5 (generation 5) dendrimer were characterized by UV-Vis spectrometry, (1)H NMR, si...

The current study was aimed to develop a targeted dendrimer formulation of 3, 4-difluorobenzylidene curcumin (CDF) and evaluate its potential in CD44 targeted therapy for pancreatic cancer. Using amine terminated fourth generation poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer nanocarrier and hyaluronic acid (HA) as a targeting ligand, we engineered a CD44-targeted PAMAM dendrimer (HA-PAMAM) formulation of...

UNLABELLED Mechanisms underlying the in vitro cytotoxicity of Polyamidoamine nano-dendrimers in human keratinocytes are explored. Previous studies demonstrated a systematic, dendrimer-generation-dependent cytotoxicity, oxidative stress, and genotoxicity. The emerging picture is of dendrimer endocytosis, endosomal rupture and subsequent mitochondrial attack and cell death. To understand the unde...

Dendrimers comprise a category of branched materials with diverse functions that can be constructed with defined architectural and chemical structures. When decorated with bioactive ligands made of peptides and saccharides through peripheral chemical groups, dendrimer conjugates are turned into nanomaterials possessing attractive binding properties with the cognate receptors. At the cellular le...

Gene transfer to the lung can be achieved via either the airway or the pulmonary vasculature. We evaluated gene transfer and expression by intravascular and endobronchial routes, using DNA complexed with G9 PAMAM dendrimer or naked plasmid DNA. Intravascular tail vein delivery of dendrimer-complexed pCF1CAT plasmid resulted in high levels of transgene expression in the lung at 12 and 24 hr, fol...
