The development of transparent solar cells extends the applications photovoltaics by offering opportunity to substitute gigantic surface coverage windows panels produce electricity. Herein, we report a new family NIR-sensitizers based on pyrrolopyrrole cyanine dyes, particularly efficient for fully and colorless dye-sensitized since record efficiency 2.5 % was achieved with an average visible t...
A Se-containing heptamethine cyanine dye based fluorescent probe was successfully developed and used for HClO detection with rapid response and high selectivity based on aggregation behavior. The probe could react with HClO with significant change in its fluorescence profile, which makes it practical for detecting HClO in fetal bovine serum and in living mice.
The synthesis of eight novel squarylium cyanine dyes is described. The dyes exhibit high solubility in organic solvents due to the introduction of the 1-sulfonatopropyl group onto the N-atom of the indolenine moiety. The condensation of the indolenine with squaric acid preceded smoothly, the reaction being catalyzed by a weak base. Spectral parameters of the dyes were correlated with the nature...
We propose and analyze a two-state valence-bond model of non-equilibrium solvation effects on the excited-state twisting reaction of monomethine cyanines. Suppression of this reaction is thought responsible for environment-dependent fluorescence yield enhancement in these dyes. Fluorescence is quenched because twisting is accompanied via the formation of dark twisted intramolecular charge-trans...
Asymmetric monomethine cyanines have been extensively used as probes for nucleic acids among other biological systems. Herein we report the synthesis of seven monomethine cyanine dyes that have been successfully prepared with various heterocyclic moieties such as quinoline, benzoxazole, benzothiazole, dimethyl indole, and benz[e]indole adjoining benz[c,d]indol-1-ium, which was found to directly...
Heptamethine cyanine dyes are a class of near infrared fluorescence (NIRF) probes of great interest in bioanalytical and imaging applications due to their modifiability, allowing them to be tailored for particular applications. Generally, modifications at the meso-position of these dyes are achieved through Suzuki-Miyaura C-C coupling and SRN1 nucleophilic substitution of the chlorine atom at t...
