A bayesian analysis of the world's p(γ,K^+)Λ data is presented. From the proposed selection of 11 resonances, we find that the following nucleon resonances have the highest probability of contributing to the reaction: S11(1535), S11(1650), F15(1680), P13(1720), D13(1900), P13(1900), P11(1900), and F15(2000). We adopt a Regge-plus-resonance framework featuring consistent couplings for nucleon re...

Abstract A simplified higher dimensional Randall-Sundrum-like model in 6 dimensions is considered. It has been observed previously by Goldberger and Wise that in such a self-interacting scalar theory on the bulk with a conical singularity there is mixing of renormalization of 4d brane couplings with that of the bulk couplings. We study the influence of the running bulk couplings on the running ...

Based on a kind of special non-semisimple Lie algebras, a scheme is presented for constructing nonlinear continuous integrable couplings. Variational identities over the corresponding loop algebras are used to furnish Hamiltonian structures for the resulting continuous integrable couplings. The application of the scheme is illustrated by an example of nonlinear continuous integrable Hamiltonian...

We present a search at the Jefferson Laboratory for new forces mediated by sub-GeV vector bosons with weak coupling α' to electrons. Such a particle A' can be produced in electron-nucleus fixed-target scattering and then decay to an e + e- pair, producing a narrow resonance in the QED trident spectrum. Using APEX test run data, we searched in the mass range 175-250 MeV, found no evidence for an...

The effects of higher order coupling of surface vibrations to the relative motion on heavy-ion fusion reactions at near-barrier energies are investigated. The coupled channels equations are solved to all orders, and also in the linear and the quadratic coupling approximations. It is shown that the shape of fusion barrier distributions and the energy dependence of the average angular momentum of...

2,3,5-Trisubstituted indoles are synthesized in three steps starting from resin-bound aniline 2. R1 is introduced by a palladium-mediated coupling of the aryl iodide with terminal alkynes followed by intramolecular cyclization to form the indole core. Acylation at C-3 with an acid chloride in the presence of AlCl(3) catalyst introduces R2. The indole C-5 position is then diversified either by S...

We herein showcase the ability of NHC-coordinated dinuclear NiI -NiI complexes to override fundamental reactivity limits of mononuclear (NHC)Ni0 catalysts in cross-couplings. This is demonstrated with the development of a chemoselective trifluoromethylselenolation of aryl iodides catalyzed by a NiI dimer. A novel SeCF3 -bridged NiI dimer was isolated and shown to selectively react with Ar-I bon...

[reaction: see text] The 1-fluoro-1-haloalkenes undergo Pd-catalyzed Negishi cross-couplings with primary alkylzinc bromides to give multisubstituted fluoroalkenes. The alkylation was trans-selective giving pure Z-fluoroalkenes in most cases. The highest yields were obtained with Pd2(dba)3 and PdCl2(dppb) catalysts but the best stereochemical outcome was obtained with less reactive Pd(PPh3)4. T...

The first Suzuki cross-couplings of unactivated tertiary alkyl electrophiles are described. The method employs a readily accessible catalyst (NiBr(2)·diglyme/4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine, both commercially available) and represents the initial example of the use of a group 10 catalyst to cross-couple unactivated tertiary electrophiles to form C-C bonds. This approach to the synthesis of a...
