In this paper, we propose to replace the Chebyshev series used in pseudospectral methods with the equivalent Chebyshev economized power series that can be evaluated more rapidly. We keep the rest of the implementation the same as the spectral method so that there is no new mathematical principle involved. We show by numerical examples that the new approach works well and there is indeed no sign...

Most boundary element methods for two-dimensional boundary value problems are based on point collocation on the boundary and the use of splines as trial functions. Here we present a unified asymptotic error analysis for even as well as for odd degree splines subordinate to uniform or smoothly graded meshes and prove asymptotic convergence of optimal order. The equations are collocated at the br...

‎the main purpose of this paper is to study the numerical solution of nonlinear volterra integral equations with constant delays, based on the multistep collocation method. these methods for approximating the solution in each subinterval are obtained by fixed number of previous steps and fixed number of collocation points in current and next subintervals. also, we analyze the convergence of the...

This chapter describes an application of the recently proposed Modified Method of Fundamental Solutions (MMFS) to the potential flow problems. The solution in two dimensional Cartesian coordinates is represented in terms of the fundamental solution of the Laplace equation together with the first order polynomial augmentation. The collocation is used for determination of the expansion coefficien...

For variation-aware capacitance extraction, stochastic collocation method (SCM) based on Homogeneous Chaos expansion has the exponential convergence rate for Gaussian geometric variations, and is considered as the optimal solution using a quadratic model to model the parasitic capacitances. However, when geometric variations are measured from the real test chip, they are not necessarily Gaussia...

The application of collocation methods using spline basis functions to solve differential model equations has been in use for a few decades. However, the application of spline collocation to the solution of the nonlinear, coupled, partial differential equations (in primitive variables) that define the motion of fluids has only recently received much attention. The issues that affect the effecti...

This report evaluates the impact of using a novel collocation segmentation method for phrase extraction in the standard phrase-based statistical machine translation approach. The collocation segmentation technique is implemented simultaneously in the source and target side. The resulting collocation segmentation is used to extract translation units. Experiments are reported in the Spanish-toEng...

In this paper, we derive error estimates for generalized interpolation, in particular collocation, in Sobolev spaces. We employ our estimates to collocation problems using radial basis functions and extend and improve previously known results for elliptic problems. Finally, we use meshless collocation to approximate Lyapunov functions for dynamical systems.

In this paper we give a complete analysis of the global convergence and local superconvergence properties of piecewise polynomial collocation for Volterra integral equations with constant delay. This analysis includes continuous collocation-based Volterra-Runge-Kutta methods as well as iterated collocation methods and their discretizations.
