The determination of the Iwahori-spherical unitary representations for split p-adic groups can be reduced to the classification of unitary representations with real infinitesimal character for associated graded Hecke algebras. We determine the unitary modules with real infinitesimal character for the graded Hecke algebra of type E6.

Generalizing results on spin character degrees, we determine for a given conjugacy class of odd type in the double cover of S n spin characters of S n which have the minimal 2-power on this class in their character value. Surprisingly, the Glaisher map plays an important r^ ole here.

We obtain a presentation of the principal subspace of the basic A (2) 2n –module, n ≥ 1. We show that its full character is given by the Nahm sum of the tadpole Dynkin diagram Tn = A2n/Z2. This character is conjecturally modular after certain specializations. We prove the modularity property in the case of the affine Lie algebra of type A (2) 4 .

We generalize [6, Theorem 3] to a Mackey-type formula for the compact restriction of a semisimple perverse sheaf produced by parabolic induction from a character sheaf, under certain conditions on the parahoric group scheme used to define compact restriction.
