In the classic description of hepatic arterial supply, the common hepatic artery originates from the coeliac trunk. However, there are numerous variations to this classic pattern. We report a rare variant pattern of hepatic arterial supply and discuss the clinical significance of this variation.

BACKGROUND Association between celiac disease and type 1 diabetes in adults is still somewhat unclear, and that between celiac disease and type 2 diabetes even less known. We studied these issues in a large cohort of adult celiac disease patients. METHODS The prevalence of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in 1358 celiac patients was compared with the population-based values. Furthermore, patients w...

Chronic mesenteric ischaemia is a rare and potentially fatal condition most commonly due to atherosclerotic stenosis or occlusion of two or more mesenteric arteries. Multivessel revascularisation of both primary mesenteric vessels, the celiac artery and superior mesenteric artery (SMA), is the current mainstay of treatment; however, in a certain cohort of patients, revascularisation one or both...

Splenic artery is the largest branch from the celiac trunk supplying the spleen, pancreas and the stomach.. It divides into two or three main branches before entering the hilum of the spleen. 21 splenic arteries were studied by dissection method and 2 splenic arteries showed variation in their branching pattern described in the observations. In the cadavers studied, the splenic artery was arisi...

This study explored arterial vascularisation of celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery using method of selective arteriography in series of arteriogram which were done in 39 patients of Institute for Radiology. There were no pathological findings in a single case at pancreas or duodenum. Arteries which arise for vascularization of pancreas had a common spot of arising, flow and ramificatio...

Introduction. True aneurysms of peripancreatic arterial arcades (PAAAs) are rare. Most of them coexist with celiac axis stenosis/occlusion due to median arcuate ligament (MAL) compression or atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cause of celiac axis lesion and characterize the anatomy of the aneurysms. These findings may have important management implications. Material and ...

BACKGROUND We performed this study in order to investigate the shape of the origin of the celiac artery in maximum intensity projection (MIP) using routine 64 multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) data in order to plan for the implantation of an intra-arterial hepatic port system. METHODS A total of 1,104 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were assessed with MDCT. In the definition...

Radioembolization offers a novel way to treat the nonresectable, liver predominant hepatic malignancies with better tumor response and overall progression-free survival rates. Transarterial catheter-based radioembolization procedure involves the hepatic arterial administration of glass- or resin-based beta emitting Yttirum-90 microspheres. Safe delivery of the tumoricidal radiation dose require...

A case of an anatomic variation in the branching of the celiac trunk in association with a variation in the course of right testicular artery is reported. It was discovered that the celiac trunk emerged from the ventral aspect of abdominal aorta as two roots, which are named hepatogastric and splenomesenteric trunks. The hepatogastric root was located superior to the splenomesenteric root. The ...
