The complete genome sequences of a cytopathic/noncytopathic pair of border disease viruses (BDV) that were isolated from a sheep with mucosal disease-like lesions were determined. The cytopathic virus possessed an insert of 288 nucleotides that was derived from the Jiv cellular transcript and had 37 nucleotide differences from the noncytopathic virus.

Some reference has been made already to inter-country border distribution of malaria in the region. This has been identified in terms of location of total reported malaria cases, incidence of reported cases, confirmed cases and parasite species. Because they are nationally based, malaria control programs in the region understandably tend to focus on disease distribution within each country. How...
Jejunal biopsies from controls and coeliac patients were maintained in organ culture for up to 48 hours. The in vitro effect of gluten fraction III during the period of culture was assessed by measurement of the activity of the brush border enzymes alkaline phosphatase and alpha-glucosidase. Mucosa from controls and treated and untreated coeliacs behaved similarly and no reproducible in vitro e...
