The gold-catalyzed [3+3]-cycloaddition reaction of propargyl esters and azomethine imines has been developed. The reaction provides a rapid entry into a wide range of substituted tetrahydropyridazine derivatives from simple starting materials. A stepwise mechanism involving addition of the 1,3-dipole to a gold-carbenoid intermediate is proposed.

Linear and hyperbranched poly(azomethine)s (PAMs)-based on triphenylamine moieties are synthesized and used as the functioning layers in the Ta/PAM/Pt resistive switching memory devices. Comparably, the hyperbranched PAM with isotropic architecture and semi-crystalline nature shows enhanced memory behaviors with more uniform distribution of the HRS and LRS resistances.

In this study, we synthesized two novel carboxylic acid and carboxylate compounds, both of which had an amide group linked with an azomethine moiety to introduce photoinduced switching of the intramolecular NH...O hydrogen bond. We suggest that the cis-carboxylate compound forms a stronger intramolecular NH...O hydrogen bond than the cis-carboxylic acid compound.

Intramolecular transannular dipolar cycloaddition was investigated as a key step in a synthetic approach to the core of the sarain alkaloids; although the use of an azomethine ylide was unsuccessful with the chosen aldehyde substrate, cycloaddition with a nitrone did give the alternative regioisomeric bridged cycloadduct.
