In this short paper, we characterise the notion of preferential attachment in networks as action at a distance, and argue that it can only be an emergent phenomenon – the actual mechanism by which networks grow always being the closing of triangles.
This article is devoted to the study cashflow maps used in the computation of value-at-risk (VaR). Properties and characteristics of the approaches found in the literature are presented and two new approaches are introduced. The goal of this paper is to study the quality of these maps.
