The design and development of sustainable software systems require software architects to consider a variety of architectural solutions and their trade-offs. With the frequent introduction of new architectural methods and software solutions, as well as, due to time-to-market constraints faced by software architects, considering even a subset of alternative architectural solutions during the dec...

Service-oriented architectures are increasingly used in the context of business processes, but the proven practices for the integration of services and processes are not well explained so far. For the integration of services and processes many different concerns, ranging from technical to architectural to businessrelated concerns, must be considered, and combinations of these concerns that are ...

The land of Turkey has hosted various civilizations throughout history, and it has diverse architectural heritages left from these civilizations. Rural areas and settlements can be seen as the pure reflection of geographical and cultural environment as well as historical and economical. However, today as a consequence of modernisation, the traditional architectural pattern in the rural settleme...

Conventional Artiicial Intelligence techniques such as expert systems have often been found to be too brittle for large-scale applications. Model-based reasoning is a technique for making Artiicial Intelligence software applicable to problems of realistic size. In this working group, we have investigated some fundamental issues in model-based reasoning and various applications in diagnosis, con...

This research is focused on using a variety of forms of visualization combined with computer vision within mixed reality environments to understand more about architectural patterns and processes. Can we use this new space created by mixed reality to increase the capacity to process, analyze and transform architectural data? Do the web of relationships made possible between the physical, digita...

We present two (?) problem frames that serve to structure, characterize and analyze software development problems in the area of software and system security. These problem frames constitute patterns for representing security problems, variants of which occur frequently in practice. Solving such problems starts with the development of an appropriate software architecture. To support that proces...

Parallel System programming requires sophisticated and cost-effective perfonnance estimation techniques for successful development. Architectural Perfonnance Models. based on Architectural patterns, a component simulator and a perfonnance analysis. are presented here as an approach to estirnating the perfonnance of parallel applications. by obtaining the contribution to performance from their S...

Scientific Computing typically requires large computational needs which have been addressed with High Performance Distributed Computing. It is essential to efficiently deploy a number of complex scientific applications, which have different characteristics, and so require distinct computational resources too. However, in many research laboratories, this high performance architecture is not dedi...

Ensuring accessibility of utility and social services is one of the public obligations of governments. Today, nations make use of the notion of e-government to expose such services to citizens. In line with this, many public organizations in Ethiopia are automating their workflows, and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is attempting to unify certain services as par...

We consider the embedding of 3+1 dimensional cosmology in 4+1 dimensional Jordan-BransDicke theory. We show that exponentially growing and power law scale factors are implied. Whereas the 4+1 dimensional scalar field is approximately constant for each, the effective 3+1 dimensional scalar field is constant for exponentially growing scale factor and time dependent for power law scale factor.
