Anthaxia (Anthaxia) kmoniceki sp. nov. and Anthaxia (Anthaxia) ungulata sp. nov. (China, Sichuan) both belonging to the A. (A.) nitidula Linnaeus, 1758 species-group are described, illustrated and compared with the most similar species. A short description of the male and new records of Anthaxia (A.) nitiduliformis Bílý, 1995 are given together with the notes on the bionomy of the species-group.
The first case of centipede (Scolopendra gigantea Linneaus 1758) envenomation in a newborn is reported. When first examined, approximately 6 hours after the bite, the 28-day-old girl was irritable, with uncontrollable cry and intense local pain, oedema, local hyperthermia, and blood clots at punctures. Uncontrollable crying in neonates should rise the possibility of an insect or arachnid sting.
Topographic homology conjectures (= THCs) of male forewing venation in extant ensiferan orthopterans (crickets, katydids, and their kin) and their close stem-relatives are re-evaluated, in order to test competing hypotheses on the origin(s) of the file (a row of teeth located on the ventral side of the forewing and used in stridulation). A new set of THCs (= STHC) is proposed, based on morpholo...
in this study, heavy metals such as al, cr, cu, zn, cd, hg, pb etc. content in liver, muscle and gill of three economical marine species [striped seabream (lithognathus mormyrus linneaus, 1758), two-band bream (diplodus vulgaris geoffroy saint-hilaire, 1817) and common pandora (pagellus erythrinus linneaus, 1758)] obtained from 4 stations (fethiye, bodrum, datça, marmaris) in south aegean coast...
During the years 2004-2006 the parasitological autopsies of three species of fish: roach Rutilus rutilus (L.), bream Abramis brama (L.) and perch Perca fluviatilis L. from three lakes situated in warmińsko-mazurskie voivodeship were done. The aim of this study was comparable analysis of Metazoan parasite communities which occur in roach, bream and perch in three lakes of river Łyna watershed. T...
We discuss the results of long-term hard x-ray monitoring of Galactic blackhole candidates 1E 1740.7–2942, GRS 1758–258, Cyg X–1, GX 339–4, and Cyg X–3 with the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). The objects divide into two classes. In the first class, exemplified by Cyg X–1, luminosity and spectral hardness evolve simultaneously. In the second class, the relation is more complicated: the soft...
The multi-species associations of insects (symbiocenosis) in honey bee hives currently include more than 15 orders Insecta. We present the results studying inquilines south Western Siberia. In honeybee this region 37 insect species from 8 (Dermaptera, Thysanoptera, Psocoptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Diptera) were identified. Inquiline observed 77% 81.5% studied apiarie...

This study presents the first record of Martesia striata (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Mediterranean Sea. It was detected during a routine monitoring study in the Iskenderun Bay, Turkey. The potential for M. striata to establish permanent population in the Mediterranean Sea and possible risks that might arise from such a situation were briefly discussed.
