We study the mean environment of galaxies in the DEEP2 Galaxy Redshift Survey as a function of rest-frame colour, luminosity, and [O II] 3727 Å equivalent width. The local galaxy overdensity for >14 000 galaxies at 0.75 < z < 1.35 is estimated using the projected thirdnearest-neighbour surface density. Of the galaxy properties studied, mean environment is found to depend most strongly on galaxy...

We consider the frame property of the Gabor system G(g, α, β) = {eg(t − αm) : m,n ∈ Z} for the case of rational oversampling, i.e. α, β ∈ Q. A ’rational’ analogue of the Ron-Shen Gramian is constructed, and prove that for any odd window function g the system G(g, α, β) does not generate a frame if αβ = n−1 n . Special attention is paid to the first Hermite function h1(t) = te −πt .

We study the properties of Lyman-α emitters (LAEs) and Lyman-break galaxies (LBGs) at z = 3−6 using cosmological SPH simulations. We investigate two simple scenarios for explaining the observed Lyα and rest-frame UV luminosity functions (LFs) of LAEs: (i) the “escape fraction” scenario, in which the effective escape fraction (including the IGM attenuation) of Lyα photons is fLyα ≈ 0.1 (0.15) at...

Abstract. A Weyl-Heisenberg frame for L(R) is a frame consisting of translates and modulates of a fixed function in L(R), i.e. (EmbTnag)m,n∈Z , with a, b > 0, and g ∈ L(R). In this paper we will give necessary and sufficient conditions for this family to form a tight WH-frame. This allows us to write down explicitly all functions g so that (EmbTnag) is an orthonormal basis for L (R). These resu...

where A and B are called the lower frame bound and upper frame bound, respectively. In particular, when A= B = 1, we say that {hk}k∈Z is a (normalized) tight frame in H. An artificial neural network (NN) was trained to predict the topology of bacterial outer membrane (OM) beta-strand proteins. Specifically, the NN predicts the z-coordinate of Calpha atoms in a coordinate frame with the outer membrane in the xy-plane, such that low z-values indicate periplasmic turns, medium z-values indicate transmembrane beta-strands, and high z-values indicate extracellular l...

We discuss the constraints on the Z ′ model parameters coming from Zpole and low-energy νμ − e scattering data in the frame work of GUTmotivated models. We find that when the coupling constant of the extra U(1) is small (large) the parameter space is mainly determined by the Z-pole (the low-energy νμ − e scattering) data. e-mail:[email protected] Address after 1st of October: ...
