Parasites are sometimes able to manipulate the behavior of their hosts. However, the molecular cues underlying this phenomenon are poorly documented. We previously reported that the parasitoid wasp Leptopilina boulardi which develops from Drosophila larvae is often infected by an inherited DNA virus. In addition to being maternally transmitted, the virus benefits from horizontal transmission in...
background and aims: crimean-congo hemorrhagic fever (cchf) is a zoonosis caused by a nairovirus of the family bunyaviridae. infection is transmitted to humans mostly by hyalomma ticks. this study was conducted to determine the rate of cchfv infection in ticks in qom province of iran. materials and methods: in this study, reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (rt-pcr) was used to de...
We report here the complete genome sequence of a triple-reassortant H1N1 swine influenza virus strain, A/swine/Guangxi/BB1/2013 (H1N1) (GXBB1), isolated from a swine in the Guangxi Province of southern China in 2013. We obtained the complete genome sequence of the GXBB1 virus. Sequence analysis demonstrated that this H1N1 virus was a triple-reassortant swine influenza virus (SIV) whose genes or...
background and objectives: hiv-1 and hcv infections are life threatening problems in patients who receive blood products. serological methods have proven useful in detecting these infections, but there are setbacks that make it challenging to detect these infectious agents. by the advent of nucleic acid testing (nat) methods, especially in multiplex format, more precise detection is possible. m...
We sequenced and analyzed the complete genome of a fish nervous necrosis virus isolated from diseased sea perch (Lateolabrax japonicus) in Guangdong Province, China. The virus genome contains RNA1 (3,103 bp) and RNA2 (1,433 bp). Phylogenetic analysis shows that the virus belongs to the redspotted grouper nervous necrosis virus genotype of betanodavirus.
Abstract We describe a case of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome caused by Seoul virus in woman Scotland, UK. Whole-genome sequencing showed the belonged to lineage characterized recent international expansion, probably driven trade pet rats.
Narnavirus 23S RNA is a persistent positive-stranded RNA virus found in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The viral genome (2.9 kb) only encodes its RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, p104. Here we report the generation of 23S RNA virus, with high frequency, from a vector containing the entire viral cDNA sequence. When the conserved GDD (Gly-Asp-Asp) motif of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase was modified,...
The NS5A protein of hepatitis C virus (HCV) plays roles in both virus genome replication and the assembly of infectious virus particles. NS5A comprises three domains, separated by low-complexity sequences. Whilst the function of domain I appears to be predominantly involved with genome replication, the roles of domains II and III are less well defined. It has been reported previously that a del...
Here, we present a transformational approach to genome engineering of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), which has a large DNA genome, using synthetic genomics tools. We believe this method will enable more rapid and complex modifications of HSV-1 and other large DNA viruses than previous technologies, facilitating many useful applications. Yeast transformation-associated recombination was us...
background and objectives: epstein barr virus (ebv) is one of the members of herpesviridae family and a sub-category of gamma herpes virinae. ebv, which normally has cr2 or cd21 receptors on b-lymphocytes, has mutagenic features for them. the virus plays an important role in causing some malignant cancers. about 30% of the cases with non-hodgkin’s lymphoma are diffuse large b-cell lymphoma (dlb...
