This text gives an overview about my current research in timing analysis at the Vienna University of Technology. After a short introduction to the topic follows the description of an approach relying on CLP, the implicit path enumeration technique (IPET). This technique is also used in a tool developed at the institute of Computer Languages (TuBound). Current timing analysis tools suffer from a...

The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants of the timing of bank failure/merger in 10 Asian countries over the period of 1999-2007 using a multivariate logit model and a split population duration analysis. Apart from bank-specific information, we also focus on the effects of macroeconomic and financial characteristics. The following empirical findings are obtained. First, the resu...

We present a 4 × 4 array of digital silicon photomultipliers (DSiPMs) capable of timestamping up to 48 photons per D-SiPM and we show the advantage of generating multiple timestamps in the context of positron emission tomography (PET). The D-SiPMs have a pitch of 800 μm and comprise 416 pixels each; the timing resolution achieved by the SiPMs is 179 ps FWHM, while each pixel has a fill factor o...

“Tor does not provide protection against end-to-end timing attacks: If your attacker can watch the traffic coming out of your computer, and also the traffic arriving at your chosen destination, he can use statistical analysis to discover that they are part of the same circuit” http://www.torproject.org. Indeed, as first demonstrated in [1] and bolstered by many follow up studies since, timing a...

This study aims to better understand the effect of practice schedule and feedback providing types. In two separate experiments the contextual interference effect in bandwidth and self-control feedback conditions on relative and absolute timing learning was examined. In experiment I, the effect of contextual interference using bandwidth and self-control feedback on absolute timing learning (para...

Recent findings suggest that large-scale remodeling of three dimensional (3D) chromatin architecture occurs during a brief period in early G1 phase termed the replication timing decision point (TDP). In this speculative article, I suggest that the TDP may represent an as yet unappreciated window of opportunity for extracellular cues to influence 3D architecture during stem cell fate decisions. ...

We deene and implement a (max,+) algebra of signals for the timing analysis of discrete event systems expressed as timed event graphs. A system is deened by the innnite, periodic time sequences of its events. Each sequence has a nite representations called a signal. The resulting tool can also compute supre-mal controllers for timed discrete event systems.

We treat theory and application of timed process algebra. We focus on a variant that uses explicit termination and action prefixing. This variant has some advantages over other variants. We concentrate on relative timing, but the treatment of absolute timing is similar. We treat both discrete and dense timing. We build up the theory incrementally. The different algebras are interrelated by embe...

Pulsar timing at the Mt Pleasant observatory focused on Vela, which could be tracked for 18 hours of the day. These nearly continuous timing records extend over 24 years allowing a great insight into details of timing noise, micro glitches and other more exotic effects. It has been found that the spin up for the Vela pulsar occurs instantaneously to within the uncertainties of the data. The pot...
