1. The thermolability of the specific polysaccharides of Types I, II, and III pneumococcus has been shown by three independent methods: (a) diminution of the viscosity of solutions on heating; (b) decrease in the amount of antibody precipitated from homologous rabbit antisera; and (c) increased tendency (S III) to pass through a collodion membrane. 2. These effects may be explained most simply ...

We introduce a new expressive theory of types for the higher-order π-calculus which significantly improves our previous work presented in [65] by the use of channel dependent/existential types. New dependent types control dynamic change of process accessibility via channel passing, while existential types guarantee safe scope-extrusion in higher-order process passing. This solves an open issue ...

We study duality between input and output in the π-calculus. In dualisable versions of π, including πI and fusions, duality breaks with the addition of ordinary input/output types. We introduce π, intuitively the minimal symmetrical conservative extension of π with input/output types. We prove some duality properties for π and we study embeddings between π and π in both directions. As an exampl...

Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome (SGBS) is a rare overgrowth syndrome clinically characterized by multiple congenital abnormalities, pre/postnatal overgrowth, distinctive craniofacial features, macrocephaly, and organomegaly. Abnormalities of the skeletal system, heart, central nervous system, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract may also be observed. Intellectual disability, early motor milestones...

On the basis of polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis of leaf extracts from 24 species of higher plants, two main forms of carbonic anhydrase (EC 4.2.1.1) were recognized; the "dicotyledon" type and the "monocotyledon" type. More than one band of enzyme was found on gels from most species, suggesting the possibility of carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes in higher plants.

Background It is known that type 1 angiotensin II (Ang II) receptor (AGTR1) could be related with the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma. It is involved in Th polarization, through different signaling pathways modulating allergic airway inflammation, and also may participate in airway remodeling and bronchoconstriction, that could be related with AGTR1 polymorphism. The purpose of this study is t...
