“Trans” offers Victorian studies two different but ultimately intertwined methods for studying sex and gender in a historically bounded discipline: nominal, biographical work theoretical, conceptual work. While accounts tend to evoke historicist concerns of anachronism, the theoretical potential “trans” is largely untouched studies. This Keywords essay argues that such much needed analyses gend...

We investigated the kinetics, mechanism and secondary organic aerosols formation of ozonolysis trans-2-pentenal (T2P) using four different reactors with Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy Gas Chromatography (GC) techniques at T = 298 ± 2 K 760 Torr in dry conditions. The rate coefficients branching ratios were also evaluated canonical variational transition (CVT) state theory couple...

The trans-admittance-mode (TAM) might act as a transforming bridge for voltage-mode to current-mode conversion. In this study a new low voltage operated electronically tunable TAM biquad filter structure realizing all the seven standard filtering functions namely; low-pass (LP), band-pass (BP), high-pass (HP), regular-notch (RN), low-pass-notch (LPN), high-pass-notch (HPN) and all-pass (AP) fro...

We use tools from Theoretical Computer Science to analyze the computational complexity of determining the h-index, the g-index, and the w-index in various models of computation. Our results confirm the natural intuition that the h-index is an easier concept than the g-index, which in turn is an easier concept than the w-index.

The present article gives an overview of analytical and simulation approaches to describe the relaxation dynamics of proteins. Particularly emphasised are recent developments of theoretical models, such as fractional Brownian dynamics. The latter connects dynamical events seen on the pico- to nanosecond time scale, accessible to quasielastic neutron scattering, and functional dynamics of protei...

This paper offers a critique of manufacturing performance measurement approaches investigated by previous studies particularly in trade-off modelling studies for manufacturing capabilities. We argue that some studies complete validity analyses of the trade-off model using measures of manufacturing performance that are inconsistent with the trade-off theoretical concept. The paper also seeks to ...

Many theoretical models of high-temperature superconductivity focus only on the doping dependence of the CuO(2)-plane electronic structure. However, such models are manifestly insufficient to explain the strong variations in superconducting critical temperature, T(c), among cuprates that have identical hole density but are crystallographically different outside of the CuO(2) plane. A key challe...

Thin liquid films on surfaces are part of our everyday life; they serve, e.g., as coatings or lubricants. The stability of a thin layer is governed by interfacial forces, described by the effective interface potential, and has been subject of many studies in recent decades. In recent years, the dynamics of thin liquid films has come into focus since results on the reduction of the glass transit...

A lubrication model is used to study the dynamics of nanoscale droplets on wettability gradient surfaces. The effects of the gradient size, size of the nanodroplets and the slip on the dynamics have been studied. Our results indicate that the position of the center of mass of the droplets can be well described in terms of a third-order polynomial function of the time of the motion for all the c...

Urbanisation and agriculture cause declines for many wildlife, but some species benefit from novel resources, especially food, provided in human-dominated habitats. Resulting shifts in wildlife ecology can alter infectious disease dynamics and create opportunities for cross-species transmission, yet predicting host-pathogen responses to resource provisioning is challenging. Factors enhancing tr...
