The present study critically reviews the synthetic unit hydrograph (SUH) methods available in hydrologic literature. The study reveals that the traditional methods of SUH derivation, e.g., Snyder, SCS, traditional methods like Snyder and TS method that does not yield satisfactory results, and their application to the practical engineering problems is tedious and combursome. On the other hand, p...

The Rainfall-Response Aquifer and Watershed Flow Model (RRAWFLOW) is a lumped-parameter model that simulates streamflow, spring flow, groundwater level, or solute transport for a measurement point in response to a system input of precipitation, recharge, or solute injection. I introduce the first version of RRAWFLOW available for download and public use and describe additional options. The open...

The effectiveness of three simple flood operating rules in reducing the peak flow is compared for four simplified hydrograph shapes. The Minimize Flood Peak rule uses available flood storage capacity to store peak flows from an accurate hydrograph forecast. The less demanding Minimize Flooding Frequency operating rule releases water at or below channel capacity until the flood storage pool is f...

Abstract The alluvial aquifer system of the Indo-Gangetic Basin (IGB) is one world’s most important freshwater resources, sustaining humans and river ecosystems. Understanding groundwater recharge processes connections to meteoric surface water necessary for effective resource management human wider ecological requirements. Parts mid-Gangetic Basin, across eastern Uttar Pradesh Bihar, are chara...

Abstract. Lowland rivers and shallow aquifers are closely coupled, their interactions crucial for maintaining healthy stream ecological functions. To explore river–aquifer the lowland hydrological system in three Belgian catchments, we apply a combined approach of baseflow separation, impulse response modeling, time series analysis over 30-year study period at catchment scale. Baseflow from hyd...

Local scouring around the bridges piers has always been considered as a problem, especially in rivers. If we do not take the necessary actions to avoid the occurrence of this phenomenon or to reduce its influence, then the bridge's piers will be destroyed. Placing the bridge piers' foundation far from the earth's surface will turn out in a plan which is not economic at all. Experimental studies...

Development of precise and simple methods in flood simulation has greatly reduced financial damage and life loss. Various methods and procedures have been implemented based on Saint-Venant's one-dimensional equation governing unsteady flows. To simplify the solution for these flows, analytical and numerical methods have been used. In the present study, a new method that provides the optimal out...

A mathematically correct form of the linear storage element’s routing equation is specified requiring only a slight modification of the existing HEC-HMS routine. The new formulation, unlike the current version in use, is unconditionally stable as long as the time step and the storage coefficient values are trivially specified as positive numbers.
