In the presence of a thiourea catalyst, β-CF3 nitroalkenes react with Hantzsch esters in a highly enantioselective fashion, giving a broad range of β-CF3 amine precursors with a tertiary stereocentre at the β-position. This reaction represents the first general catalytic enantioselective approach to this important class of β-CF3 amines.

An enantio- and diastereoselective organocatalytic intramolecular aza-Henry (nitro-Mannich) reaction has been developed. The trans-2-aryl-3-nitro-tetrahydroquinoline products are obtained in high yields and in good enantioselectivities with a bifunctional tertiary amine-thiourea catalyst. The metabolism of apomorphine is quite complex due to interactions with proteins and other tissue components that affect its pharmacokinetic profile. The electrochemical oxidation mechanism of apomorphine and of some synthesised apomorphine derivatives was studied.
