Background: Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) may be a variety of presentation of underlying urinary tract abnormalities including vesicoureteral reflex (VUR), obstructive uropathy, urolithiasis, and ureteral duplication. The long-term complications of UTI with these conditions are renal scarring, hypertension, and chronic renal failure. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the incide...

The relationship between differential renal uptake of Tc-99m 2-3 dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) and differential renal function was examined in normal and abnormal dogs by correlating Tc-99m DMSA localization with relative renal blood flow and creatining clearance. There was close correlation of fractional Tc-99m DMSA localization with relative renal function.
PURPOSE To explore the role of single-photon emission CT (SPECT) in initial diagnostic evaluation of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) and to identify subgroups in which it may serve as a useful diagnostic tool. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients with MTBI seen during a 14-month period were prospectively included in this study. All patients had a CT of head within 12 hours of injur...
Introduction: 99mTc–Dimercaptosuccinic Acid (DMSA) as evaluation of pediatric genitourinary abnormalities has an important role in pediatric nuclear medicine. The aim of this study was to estimate organs absorbed dose for children injected by 99mTc DMSA using MIRDOSE software and hybrid planar/SPECT method. Methods: After injection of 99mTc-DMSA, ten children with genitourinary abnorma...
UNLABELLED Technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (Tc-99m DMSA) as a static renal agent is currently the most frequently used agent in the detection of renal scarring, and allows accurate calculation of differential renal function (DRF). But this agent has some disadvantages such as relatively higher radiation dose and time consumption. METHODS The purpose of this study was to evaluate the po...
BACKGROUND The degree of inflammatory reaction and leucocyte trafficking during acute pyelonephritis has been related to the risk of developing renal parenchymal scarring. Adhesion molecules play a central role in leucocyte recruitment during inflammation. AIMS (1) To determine whether circulating and urinary concentrations of E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) were abn...
PURPOSE To describe our technique and experience with retroperitoneoscopic upper pole nephroureterectomy in duplex kidney, focusing on the role of dilated upper ureter. MATERIALS AND METHODS From November 2004 to August 2011, retroperitoneoscopic upper pole nephroureterectomy was performed in 31 patients with a duplex kidney by a single, experienced laparoscopic surgeon. We developed our own ...
