in this paper we obtain a necessary and a sufficient condition for the set of ω_0-nearest points ( ω_0-farthest points) to be non-empty or a singleton set in normed linear spaces. we shall find a necessary and a sufficient condition for an uniquely remotal set to be a singleton set.

Using Generalized Modus Ponens reasoning, we examine the values of inferred conclusion when the premise of the rule and the observed fact have a partial overlapping. We work with fuzzy if-then rules with a single input single output and the t-norm t(x, y) = max((1+λ)(x+y−1)−λxy, 0), λ ≥ −1, for composition operation. This t-norm is important to use because for λ = −1 and λ = 0 it gives the very...

Let B be a collection of fuzzy sets. What are the fuzzy sets which are sufficiently similar to every fuzzy set from B, i.e. ‘central’ fuzzy sets for B? Such a question naturally arises if B is large and one wishes to replace B by a single fuzzy set – the representative of B. In this paper, we develop a framework which enables us to answer this question and related ones. We use complete residuat...

The paper presents IF-inference systems of Takagi-Sugeno type. It is based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IF-sets), introduced by K.T. Atanassov, fuzzy t-norm and t-conorm, intuitionistic fuzzy t-norm and t-conorm. Thus, an IFinference system is developed for ozone time series prediction. Finally, we compare the results of the IF-inference systems across various operators.

The possible application of fuzzy sets theory in strategic management to the problem of portfolio matrices analysis, used for strategy alternative(s) formulation and selection is described. The values of membership functions of input variables into portfolio matrices are combined with di erent t-norms: (a) TM (x; y) = min(x; y); (b) TP(x; y) = xy; (c) Sugeno’s t-norms; (d) Hamacher’s t-norm fam...

Domination is a relation between general operations defined on a poset. The old open problem is whether domination is transitive on the set of all t-norms. In this paper we contribute partially by inspection of domination in the family of Frank and Hamacher tnorms. We show that between two different t-norms from the same family, the domination occurs iff at least one of the t-norms involved is ...

In this article, we have shown, for the add-point monad T, thepartial morphism category Set*is isomorphic to the Kleisli category SetT. Alsowe have proved that the category, SetT, of T-algebras is isomorphic to thecategory Set of pointed sets. Finally we have established commutative squaresinvolving these categories.

Two different elementary approaches for deriving an explicit formula for the distribution of the range of a simple random walk on Z of length n are presented. Both of them rely on Hermann Weyl’s discrepancy norm, which equals the maximal partial sum of the elements of a sequence. By this the original combinatorial problem on Z can be turned into a known path-enumeration problem on a bounded lat...
