In this paper, the problem of stability analysis and stabilization synthesis of switched linear systems with time delay is studied in continuous-time domain. First, two sufficient conditions are established under which the system is asymptotically stable under arbitrary switching signal, and, if a set of linear matrix inequalities is solvable, a state feedback controller can be designed to stab...
A b g r a a A simultaneous H2/H® control problem is considered. This problem seeks to minimize the H 2 norm of a closed-loop transfer matrix while simultaneously satisfying a prescribed H~ norm bound on some other closed-loop transfer matrix by utilizing dynamic state feedback controllers. Such a problem was formulated earlier by Rotea and Khargonekar (Automatica, 27, 307-316, 1991) who conside...
Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived such that a multi-input, time-varying, linear state-feedback system minimizes a quadratic performance index (the inverse linear optimal control problem). A procedure for determining all such equivalent performance indices that yield the same feedback matrix is indicated.
This experimental work concerns the multivariable nonlinear control of a pilotsize continuous polymerization reactor with generically singular characteristic matrix. The control problem is to control conversion and temperature in a continuous stirred tank reactor by manipulating two coordinated flow rates (reactor residence time) and two coordinated heat inputs. A nonlinear controller is synthe...
In this paper problem of finite-time optimal state feedback control for a class of time-varying linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with a known delay in the state vector under quadratic cost functional is investigated via a successive approximation algorithm. The method of successive approximation algorithm results an iterative scheme, which successively improves any initial control law ult...
Sufficient linear matrix inequalities (LMI) conditions for regularization of discrete-time singular systems are given. Then a new class of regularizing stabilizing controllers is discussed. The proposed controllers are the sum of predictive and memoryless state feedbacks. The predictive controller aims to regularizing the singular system while the memoryless state feedback is designed to stabil...
This paper considers two-input, two-output nonlinear adaptive model following control of a 3-DOF (degree-of-freedom) tandem rotor model helicopter. The control performance is studied by real time implementation of the control algorithms in an actual helicopter testbed. Since the decoupling matrix of the model helicopter is singular, the system is not decouplable by static state feedback, and it...
In this paper, state-derivative and especially output-derivative feedbacks for linear time-invariant systems are derived using control approach similar to linear quadratic regulator (LQR). The optimal feedback gain matrices are derived for the desired performance. This problem is always solvable for any controllable system if the open-loop system matrix is nonsingular. Explicit expression of th...
AlUra~-In this paper, we consider the problem of finding controllers which place the eigenvalues of the closed-loop system matrix in a prespecified circular region in the left-half plane and minimize an associated quadratic cost function. We give solutions to both state-feedback and output-feedback synthesis problems.
In this paper, the row by row decoupling problem by static state feedback is studied for regularizable singular square systems. The problem is handled in matrix polynomial equation setting. The necessary and sufficient conditions on decouplability are introduced and an algorithm for calculation of feedback gains is presented. A structural interpretation is also given for decoupled systems.
