This review summarizes experimental data illuminating the mechanism of suppression of heat-induced protein aggregation by alpha-crystallin, one of the small heat shock proteins. The dynamic light scattering data show that the initial stage of thermal aggregation of proteins is the formation of the initial aggregates involving hundreds of molecules of the denatured protein. Further sticking of t...

While a lot of Psychologists, Sociologists and Criminologists, have profound anxiety with regard to growth of harshness in streets and public places, the probability of ones get into attack in family is more than it. Violence against women is a kind of violent behavior related to sexuality that leads to hurt or perhaps ensue to physical, sexually and psychological damages. The aim of this resea...

In two-stage cluster surveys, the traditional method used in second-stage sampling (in which the first household in a cluster is selected) is time-consuming and may result in biased estimates of the indicator of interest. Firstly, a random direction from the center of the cluster is selected, usually by spinning a pen. The houses along that direction are then counted out to the boundary of the ...

traditional survey methods may cause refusals to respond or untruthful replies when encounter the sensitive questions. the randomized response technique (rrt) is designed to decrease social desirability bias and obtain reliable estimates. this study aimed to apply these new methods on the sensitive questions survey.simmons model was applied in the survey of issues relevant to commercial sex amo...

The lifetime prevalences of DSM-III mental disorders using Korean version of DIS-III are presented. They were studied in 5,100 adults (aged 18 to 65) in household selected by two stage cluster sampling. Comparisons were made between regions, sex and age groups. International comparison with Epidemiologic Catchment Area program was also made.

This paper studies the k-means++ algorithm for clustering as well as the class ofD sampling algorithms to which k-means++ belongs. It is shown that for any constant factor β > 1, selecting βk cluster centers by D sampling yields a constant-factor approximation to the optimal clustering with k centers, in expectation and without conditions on the dataset. This result extends the previously known...

FRANCIS A. ROESCH, JR. Adaptive cluster sampling is shown to be a viable alternative for sampling forests when there are rare characteristics of the forest trees which are of interest and occur on clustered trees. The ideas of recent work in Thompson (1990) have been extended to the case in which the initial sample is selected with unequal probabilities. An example is given in which the initial...

There is a simple robust variance estimator for cluster-correlated data. While this estimator is well known, it is poorly documented, and its wide range of applicability is often not understood. The estimator is widely used in sample survey research, but the results in the sample survey literature are not easily applied because of complications due to unequal probability sampling. This brief no...

We propose a method by which the set of linear extensions of an interval order may be partitioned into sets of linear extensions of weak orders, using so-called marked conngurations of the interval order. The technique relies heavily on the natural linear ordering of maximal antichains in interval orders. We also propose a method whereby sets from this partition can be generated with known prob...
