The prevention of microbial surface contamination has become most crucial in today’s health care system, and in food and pharmaceutical production. Human beings are often infected by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and molds that often infect living environments. Silver nanoparticles or silver ions have been known to have strong inhibitory and bactericidal effects. Metallic nanopartic...

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) previously classified as antimicrobial agents have been widely used in consumers and industrial products, especially food storage material. Ag NPs used as antimicrobial agents may be found in liver. Thus, examination of the ability of Ag NPs to penetrate the liver is warranted. The aim of the study was to determine the optimal viability assay for using with Ag NPs ...

In the present study, the use of silver oxide nanoparticles (Ag2O NPs) synthesized using Ficus benghalensis prop root extract (FBPRE) as a reducing and stabilizing agent is reported and evaluated for its antibacterial activity against dental bacterial strains. The effects of pH, extract concentration, metal ion concentration, and contact time were studied to confirm the optimum production of Ag...

In this study, silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) were synthesized using the wet chemical reduction method on the external surface layer of talc mineral as a solid support. Silver nitrate and sodium borohydride were used as the silver precursor and reducing agent in talc. The talc was suspended in aqueous AgNO(3) solution. After the absorption of Ag(+) on the surface, the ions were reduced with NaBH...

The bactericidal activity, optical spectra, electron-microscopic images and electrical resistance of cotton textile modified with bimetallic silver/copper nanoparticles (Ag/CuNPs) against the series of the microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aurous, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) are studied. NPs’ modified fabrics were produced by the developed by us method of soft heat treatment of t...

Silver nanoparticles (NPs) have at least one dimension of a particle smaller than 100 nm and contain 20-15,000 silver atoms. Due to its antibacterial activity nanosilver (NS) is used for medical purposes. NS particles can be obtained by various methods. Potentially, the best method of the NS synthesis for medical purposes is based on a brief flow of electric current between two silver electrode...

A novel fluorescence turn-on strategy for glucose sensing is demonstrated. The fluorescence of a perylene probe could be quenched by the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs). The Ag NPs could be etched by H2O2 generated from the enzymatic oxidation of glucose. And efficient probe fluorescence recovery was detected.

Correction statement In the Methods section of our published article [1], we mentioned that “we developed a novel in situ means of preparing stabilized Au or Ag NPs...”. However, we have recently noticed that the similar process has been reported by Moreno et al. [2]. Hence, we correct the statement in our manuscript by crediting the work by Moreno et al. [2]: [Before Correction] “We developed ...

A facile and green approach has been developed to synthesize silver nanoparticle (Ag-NPs). This was carried out by a biosynthetic route using Justicia Adhatoda root extract as reducing and stabilizing agent. The structure, composition, average particle size (~25 nm) and surface morphology of Ag-NPs were characterized by the X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope and atomic...
