This study focuses on an aqueous one-pot method for synthesis of CdSe/ZnS core/shell QDs using microwave radiation. The novelty of the study is the use of Zn(NH3)4 as the zinc source. Using an initial solution with the composition Cd1Se1Zn6MPA20, the QDs obtained upon heating at 160 °C for 60 min were not high quality, as evidenced by a quantum yield of 1.5%, due to the poor interface between t...

To reveal and quantify the interactive effects of drought stresses and elevated CO2 concentration [CO2] on photochemistry efficiency of cucumber seedlings, the portable chlorophyll meter was used to measure the chlorophyll content, and the Imaging-PAM was used to image the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and rapid light response curves (RLC) of leaves in two adjacent greenhouses. The result...

Emission color controlled, high quantum yield CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite quantum dots are obtained by changing the temperature of a bad solvent during synthesis. The products for temperatures between 0 and 60 °C have good spectral purity with narrow emission line widths of 28-36 nm, high absolute emission quantum yields of 74% to 93%, and short radiative lifetimes of 13-27 ns.

We study minisuperspace quantum cosmology for a 2+1 dimensional Ads universe and find wave function, then we extend the model to a canonically quantized field theory for quantum gravity, i.e., a midisuperspace and solve quantum constraint the wave functional of the field theory in the saddle point approximation, we find that these two approach yield in different results.

Various quantum measurement procedures are analyzed and it is shown that under certain conditions they yield consistently weak values which might be very different from the eigenvalues, the allowed outcomes according to the standard quantum formalism. The weak value outcomes result from peculiar quantum interference of the pointer variable of the measuring device.

We show that particle detectors, such as two-level atoms, in noninertial motion (or in gravitational fields) could be used to build quantum gates for the processing of quantum information. Concretely, we show that through suitably chosen noninertial trajectories of the detectors the interaction Hamiltonian's time dependence can be modulated to yield arbitrary rotations in the Bloch sphere due t...

Semiconductor nanoparticles (quantum dots) are promising fluorescent markers, but it is very little known about interaction of quantum dots with biological molecules. In this study, interaction of CdTe quantum dots coated with thioglycolic acid (TGA) with bovine serum albumin was investigated. Steady state spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering m...

We report a series of stiff dendrimers (referred to as T1, T2, T3, and T4) that have both gigantic two-photon absorption (TPA) cross sections up to 25,000 GM and strong two-photon excited fluorescence (TPEF) with fluorescence quantum yield of ∼0.5. The large TPA cross sections and high quantum yields of these dendrimers are directly related to their geometrical structures, where the polycyclic ...

Physical variations in colloidal nanostructures give rise to heterogeneity in expressed optical behavior. This correlation between nanoscale structure and function demands interrogation of both atomic structure and photophysics at the level of single nanostructures to be fully understood. Herein, by conducting detailed analyses of fine atomic structure, chemical composition, and time-resolved s...

Fluorescence imaging represents a non-invasive tool for revealing and understanding spatial heterogeneity in leaf performance caused by external factors, such as abiotic stress. Sun (Rosa meillandina and Chrysanthemum morifolium) and shade (Spathiphyllum wallisii) plants were used to study their tolerance to heat and high illumination. Fluorescence yield, effective PSII quantum yield and non-ph...
