The accuracy of wide band propagation delay estimation is characterized. The Cramér-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) for delay estimation in multipath conditions is presented in terms of the Ricean K-factor, the ratio of direct to diffuse multipath components. The validity of the derivation is demonstrated using thousands of measurements, where the K-factor is estimated in the spectral domain.

The Air Force is pursuing several efficiency initiatives designed to reduce support function costs. One such initiative is an effort to reduce the flow days of items being repaired in the Air Force’s organic depots. Many end items are affected by awaiting parts (AWP) delays, which increase total flow days. The first step in reducing AWP delays is to identify which piece parts are causing the de...

Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) can be used in ocean exploration and lake pollution monitoring. They use acoustic media to achieve sensor communications. UWSNs are essentially different from terrestrial RF-based sensor networks due to its highly variable, long propagation delay, and mobility nature. In this paper, we first describe our experimental design of low-cost underwater sens...

Interconnect shielding is used in VLSI designs to avoid noise interference from the cross-coupling capacitance between adjacent signals. This paper takes advantage of the shields already present in the design and uses them to tune the propagation delay of the clock signals, thus eliminating expensive dedicated delay buffers. The problem of obtaining the desired delay at a minimum shielding cost...

Measurement shows that 85% of TCP flows in the internet are short-lived flows that stay most of their operation in the TCP startup phase. However, many previous studies indicate that the traditional TCP Slow Start algorithm does not perform well, especially in long fat networks. Two obvious problems are known to impact the Slow Start performance, which are the blind initial setting of the Slow ...

In this paper we investigate the complexity of superscalar decode/issue logic assuming primitive gates. We show, assuming that the issuing is performed on the base of opcodes, that the complexity of checking data dependencies is in the order of k3 gates and log k gate delay, k being the issue width, when assuming infinite resources and in-order issuing. In assuming out-of-order issuing the comp...

Dual threshold voltages domino design methodology utilizes low threshold voltages for all transistors that can switch during the evaluate mode and utilizes high threshold voltages for all transistors that can switch during the pre charge modes. We employed standby switch can strongly turn off all of the high threshold voltage transistors which enhances the effectiveness of a dual threshold volt...

Long Propagation Delay is the major drawback in underwater sensor networks. In this paper, we use JSL algorithm, which synchronizes time and localization of sensor nodes, and ACO algorithm to find optimal path to forward packets from anchor node to base station using object node. Furthermore, by combining both the algorithms, we can reduce the propagation delays. Some QoS Parameters are analyze...

This paper presents a new early output hybrid input encoded asynchronous full adder designed using dual-rail and 1-of-4 delay-insensitive data codes. The proposed full adder when cascaded to form a ripple carry adder (RCA) necessitates the use of a small relative-timing assumption with respect to the internal carries, which is independent of the RCA size. The forward latency of the proposed hyb...

Wireless sensor network concept consist sensor nodes which are developed in the specific area senses and transmit data point to point. Delay constraint is the important point in the WSN. The delay guaranteed scheduling and flow control in WSN. Delay guaranteed are important for delay sensitive applications in WSN, Where data delivery is required in a timely manner e.g packet are send if they do...
