Table 1: Overview of the used data set. For each configuration, the size of the associated problem space is shown (|V c| and |Ec| denote the number of nodes and edges of the problem space, |V c used | denote the number of nodes which occur in at least one of the paths, % is the the percentage of used nodes), min |p| denotes the length of the optimal solution path. The remaining columns contain ...

The paper presents the possibilities of simulation of steady and dynamic regimes for ammonia synthesis columns. We present the possibilities of study of the dynamic regimes for automatic control of the temperature in catalyst layers and propose an advanced control structure using the fresh gas flows between catalyst layers as commands. We also present the possibilities of optimization of the co...

modified bubble column extraction with ultrasonic bath (bce-ub) method was used to extract atropine from the stem and leaves of atropa belladonna. optimum condition were obtained with kamada solvent which was chloroform-methanol-ammonia 15:15:1(v/v/v) as extraction solvent, the particle size of  less than  350 µm, an extraction time of 23.95 min, a liquor to material ratio of 15.08 ml/g and  an...

Distillation column is one of the most common operations in process industries and is while the most expensive unit of the amount of energy consumption. Many ideas have been presented in the related literature for optimizing energy consumption in distillation columns. This paper studies the different heat integration methods in a distillation column which separate Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, and ...

A comprehensive optimization study on a simulated moving bed reactor (SMBR) system is reported in this article for the direct synthesis of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) from tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) and methanol. The applicability of the Varicol process, which is based on non-synchronous shift of the inlet and outlet ports, is explored for the first time for a reactive system. Multi-ob...

During the last decade we have witnessed a tremendous increase in the amount of semantic data available on the Web in almost every field of human activity. More and more corporate, governmental, or even user-generated datasets break the walls of “private” management within their production site, are published, and become available for potential data consumers, i.e., applications/services, indiv...

We study a multi-item, two-echelon, continuous-review inventory problem at a Dutch utility company, Liander. We develop a model that optimizes the quantities of service parts and their allocation in the two-echelon network under an aggregate waiting time restriction. Specific aspects that we address are emergency shipments in case of stockout, and batching for regular replenishment orders at th...

Bitonic columns are an extension of the consecutive ones property for a matrix. For some optimization problems, if the constraint matrix has the proper bitonic column property then a fast algorithm can nd an optimal solution. This paper shows how the PQ-tree reduction algorithm of Booth and Lueker can be extended into an eecient algorithm to test for a bitonic column property.

This application note describes how the Agilent Bio-Monolith Protein A column was applied to the optimization of Chinese hamster ovary cell-culture conditions to produce a recombinant monoclonal antibody with desired structural characteristics, focusing on glycosylation. The workflow demonstrates the versatility and wide applicability of the column in biopharmaceutical and biosimilar development.

This paper is concerned with the computer-aided optimal design of reaction-distillation processes. The production of solvent 2,3-dimethylbutene-1 by isomerization of 2,3dimethylbutene-2 is considered as an innovative benchmark problem. Possible process candidates are a reactive distillation column, a reactor coupled to a nonreactive distillation column or a reactive reboiler with a nonreactive ...
