( Global optimization is an essential part of any kind of system. Various algorithms have been proposed that try to imitate the learning and problem solving abilities of the nature up to certain level. The main idea of all nature-inspired algorithms is to generate an interconnected network of individuals, a population. Although most of unconstrained optimization problems can be easily handled w...
Abstract A class of recurrent neural networks is developed to solve nonlinear equations, which are approximated by a multilayer perceptron (MLP). The recurrent network includes a linear Hopfield network (LHN) and the MLP as building blocks. This network inverts the original MLP using constrained linear optimization and Newton’s method for nonlinear systems. The solution of a nonlinear equation ...
Abstract We study sparsity constrained nonlinear optimization (SCNO) from a topological point of view. Special focus will be on M-stationary points Burdakov et al. (SIAM J Optim 26:397–425, 2016), also introduced as $$N^C$$ N C -stationary in Pan (J Oper Res Soc China 3...
Two modern optimization methods including Particle Swarm Optimization and Differential Evolution are compared on twelve constrained nonlinear test functions. Generally, the results show that Differential Evolution is better than Particle Swarm Optimization in terms of high-quality solutions, running time and robustness.
The paper presents a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for nonlinear programming in Matlab. The GUI gives easy access to all features in the NLPLIB TB (NonLinear Programming LIBrary Toolbox); a set of Matlab solvers, test problems, graphical and computational utilities for unconstrained and constrained optimization, quadratic programming, unconstrained and constrained nonlinear least squares, box-...
