A novel one-pot strategy for the synthesis of 3-trifluoromethylquinoxalines from N-aryl enamines and nitromethane was developed. The tandem reaction is achieved through nitrosation of alkenes, tautomerization and cyclization, which can be applicable to a wide range of enamines with excellent functional group tolerance and afford quinoxalines in moderate to good yields.

Nitrophenols can be obtained in high yields via nitrosation-oxidation of phenols by 3methyl-1-sulfonic acid imidazolium chloride f[Msim]Clg as a new Br nsted acidic ionic liquid and NaNO2 at room temperature. In situ generation of HNO2 and a radical-cation mechanism via the nitrous acid catalyzed pathway appear to be applicable to phenol nitration using this reagent system.

We addressed the role of nitric oxide (NO) in orexin neuron degeneration that has been observed under various pathological conditions. Administration of an NO donor NOC18 (50 nmol) into the third ventricle of mice resulted in a significant decrease of orexin-immunoreactive (-IR) neurons, in contrast to a modest change in melanin-concentrating hormone-IR neurons. In addition, NOC18 promoted form...

Infection with the liver fluke, Opisthorchis viverrini, is a causative agent of cholangiocarcinoma. One possible contributing factor in this carcinogenesis is the chronic, local generation of nitric oxide by inflammatory cells expressing inducible nitric oxide synthase and the production of N-nitroso compounds via the reaction between amines and nitrosating agents derived from nitric oxide. Our...

S-nitrosothiols are nitric oxide (NO)-derived molecules found in biological systems. They have been variously discussed as both NO reservoirs and as major actors in NO-dependent, but cGMP-independent, signal transduction. Although S-nitrosation of specific cysteine residues has been suggested to represent a novel redox-based signaling mechanism, the exact mechanisms of S-nitrosothiol formation ...

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in developed countries such as the U.K., but incidence rates around the world vary approx. 20-fold. Diet is thought to be a key factor determining risk: red and processed meat, but not white meat or fish, are associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. The endogenous formation of N-nitroso compounds is a possible explanation because ...

Fe(BF4)2·6H2O/2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid catalysed nitrosation of a wide variety of substituted styrenes has been developed in the presence of t-BuONO/NaBH4 under H2 pressure (10 bar) in MeOH-H2O (5 : 1) to afford corresponding oximes in good to excellent yields.
