PURPOSE BAY 50-4798 is an analogue of interleukin-2 that selectively activates T cells over natural killer cells. This phase I study was designed to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and safety of BAY 50-4798, screen for tumor response, and assess pharmacokinetics. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN Forty-five patients with metastatic melanoma or renal cancer were enrolled, 31 on escalating doses t...

PURPOSE To evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of BAY 86-9766, a selective, potent, orally available, small-molecule allosteric inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase 1/2 in patients with advanced solid tumors. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN BAY 86-9766 was administered orally daily in 28-day courses, with doses escalated to establish the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD). An e...

The volume and interplay of mass-transport (MTD) and turbidite-system deposits varies on different continental margins depending on local and external controls such as active-margin or passive-margin tectonic setting and climatic and/or sea-level change. Erosion and breaching of local grabens at the shelf edge of the southern Bering Sea produce giant, gullied canyons and MTD sheets that dominat...

This prospective study evaluated the performance of the Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD) for the diagnosis of lymph node tuberculosis in Djibouti, Republic of Djibouti. Of 197 specimens sampled from 153 patients, 123 were from 95 tuberculous patients. The sensitivity and specificity of MTD were 93 and 100%, respectively. The sensitivity of culture was 89%.

The iterative majority improved decoders are described. They are called multithreshold decoders (MTD). These decoders have a property of convergence to the solution of the optimum decoder with keeping linear complexity of implementation, which one is a property of usual threshold procedures. Different decoding applications are discussed. Experimental results are submitted. Decoder for non-binar...

We conducted a decision analysis to assess and compare four algorithms for amplified Mycobacterium tuberculosis direct (MTD) testing of respiratory specimens in terms of cost-effectiveness. The most cost-effective strategy was one in which smear-positive specimens but not smear-negative specimens were diluted prior to MTD testing.

Tuberculosis remains a public health problem in Turkey. Rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis plays a key role in control of infection. In this article, the Gen-Probe Amplified Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Direct Test (MTD) was evaluated for detection of M. tuberculosis in urine samples. The performance of the MTD was very good and appropriate for routine laboratory diagnosis.

INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate whether the MTD could identify men at low risk of PSA recurrence after RP who might not benefit from ART despite other adverse features. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study cohort consisted of 354 men with T1c to T2 prostate cancer diagnosed between September 2001 and December 2008 who underwent RP without adjuvant therapy. Multivari...
