Drivers’ heterogeneity and the broad range of vehicle characteristics on public roads are primarily responsible for stochasticity observed in road traffic dynamics. Understanding behavioural differences drivers (human or automated systems) reproducing behaviours microsimulation has lately attracted significant attention. Calibration car-following model parameters is prevalent way to chracterize...

A dynamic microsimulation model of cohort earnings based on the Australian population aged between 20 and 55 years is described. A highly parsimonious modular structure is adopted to facilitate sensitivity analysis and enable additional characteristics to be added, should they be desired. Despite the restrictive specifications used, the model closely reflects the data used for calibration. JEL ...

This paper reviews the range of traffic models, with particular attention to microsimulation. Although there are major types, there are so many hybrids that it is difficult to classify them all. The standard way of assigning traffic to a network is to find a static equilibrium from which no driver would be able to find a quicker route. This gives fairly good predictions of the link flows result...

S imulation models, now widely used in the physical sciences, can also help economists in depicting the actions and interactions of individuals and firms through time. Such models can be built and run on any personal computer. They can illuminate a wide variety of issues that are difficult to analyze with an economist's conventional tool-kit and are especially useful in studying dynamic process...

This paper demonstrates a model{chain that is able to determine environmental impacts of traac. The dynamic microsimulation models described cover the problems of traac assignment and calculation of emissions by microscopic vehicle states. Due to their computational eeciency the model{chain promises to be applicable even for large networks with millions of drivers. First results will be presented.

Fifty years have passed since the seminal contribution of Guy Orcutt [Orcutt, 1957], which gave birth to the field of Microsimulation. We survey, from a methodological perspective, the literature that followed, highlighting its relevance, its pros and cons vis-à-vis other methodologies and pointing out the main open issues.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of the study was to develop a population-based simulation model of osteoarthritis (OA) in Canada that can be used to quantify the future health and economic burden of OA under a range of scenarios for changes in the OA risk factors and treatments. In this article we describe the overall structure of the model, sources of data, derivation of key input parameters for the ep...
