By combining atomistic simulations with a detailed analysis of individual atomic hops, we show that the diffusion carbon in binary Fe-C glass exhibits strong (anti-)correlations and is largely determined by local environment. Higher concentrations lead to slower mobility. Our results help explain increasing stability (and other similar metal-metalloid glasses) against crystallization concentrat...

This study investigated the feasibility of measuring corticosterone in feathers from cryo-archived raptor specimens, in order to provide a retrospective assessment of the activity of the stress axis in relation to contaminant burden. Feather samples were taken from sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus, kestrel Falco tinnunculus, buzzard Buteo buteo, barn owl Tyto alba, and tawny owl Strix aluco and the ...

Arsenic is a well-known toxic and carcinogenic metalloid distributed all over the world causing serious health threats via drinking water. The present study was performed to evaluate the mutagenic potential of Sodium(meta)arsenite in the Bacterial Reverse Mutation Assay using five tester strains of Salmonella typhimurium TA1537, TA1535, TA98, TA100 and TA102. Sodium(meta)arsenite was not detect...

We present new insights into the ligand strength of metalloid [Ge9(Hyp)3]− cluster (Hyp=Si(SiMe3)3) alongside novel neutral Ge9 clusters composition R3PAuGe9(Hyp)3 (R=Et, nPr, iPr, nBu, tBu, Cy). These are synthesized in good yields from KGe9(Hyp)3 and R3PAuCl. Further experiments with these show that is between aryl alkyl phosphines.

Inorganic arsenic is a major environmental contaminant associated with an increased risk of human skin cancer. Arsenic modulates cellular signaling pathways that affect diverse processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, including genotoxic damage. The p53 protein plays a central role in mediating stress and DNA damage responses, leading to either growth arrest or apop...
