The most important open problem in Monotone Operator Theory concerns the maximal monotonicity of the sum of two maximally monotone operators provided that Rockafellar’s constraint qualification holds. In this paper, we prove the maximal monotonicity of A + ∂f provided that A is a maximally monotone linear relation, and f is a proper lower semicontinuous convex function satisfying domA ∩ int dom...
In this paper, we study nonlinear second order differential inclusions with a multivalued maximal monotone term and nonlinear boundary conditions. We prove existence theorems for both the convex and nonconvex problems, when domA 6= R and domA = R , with A being the maximal monotone term. Our formulation incorporates as special cases the Dirichlet, Neumann and periodic problems. Our tools come f...
The purpose of this paper is to find of the theoretical results of fixed point theorems for a mixed monotone mapping in a metric space endowed with partially order by using the generalized Kanann type contractivity of assumption. Also, as an application, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solution for a first-order ordinary differential equation with periodic bou...
In this paper, we prove the existence theorem for a mapping defined by T = T1 + T2 when T1 is a μ1-Lipschitz continuous and γ-strongly monotone mapping, T2 is a μ2-Lipschitz continuous mapping, we have a mapping T is Lipschitz continuous but not strongly monotone mapping. This work is extend and improve the result of N. Petrot [17]. Mathematics Subject Classification: 46C05, 47D03, 47H09, 47H10...
In this note, we study maximal monotonicity of linear relations (set-valued operators with linear graphs) on reflexive Banach spaces. We provide a new and simpler proof of a result due to BrézisBrowder which states that a monotone linear relation with closed graph is maximal monotone if and only if its adjoint is monotone. We also study Fitzpatrick functions and give an explicit formula for Fit...
Maximal monotone operator theory is about to turn (or just has turned) fifty. I intend to briefly survey the history of the subject. I shall try to explain why maximal monotone operators are both interesting and important—culminating with a description of the remarkable progress made during the past decade.
Various search directions used in interior-point-algorithms for the SDP (semidefinite program) and the monotone SDLCP (semide nite linear complementarity problem) are characterized by the intersection of a maximal monotone a ne subspace and a maximal and strictly antitone a ne subspace. This observation provides a uni ed geometric view over the existence of those search directions.
We establish variational principles for monotone and maximal bifunctions of Brøndsted-Rockafellar type by using our characterization of bifunction’s maximality in reflexive Banach spaces. As applications, we give an existence result of saddle point for convex-concave function and solve an approximate inclusion governed by a maximal monotone operator.
