Measures of statistical distance are widely used in techniques such as clustering and classification, when we wish to identify objects that are in some sense similar to each other. The choice of distance between data points is an important one, and there are a large number of measures to choose from. In this paper we present some of the most commonly used measures of distance and compare their ...

4*h Abstmet-Two recent topologies-Manhattan Street Network (MSN) and HR4-Net (or 2-D Torus)-proposed for metropolitan areas are primanly mesh connected networks. In this brief contribution, we compare the average distance, the diameter, the terminal reliability, and the cost. Simulation results indicate that they are fairly close in performance, while the MSN is observed to be more cost-effecti...
In the paper silicon on insulator layout decomposition algorithms for the double patterning lithography on high performance computing platforms are discussed. Our approach is based on the use of a contradiction graph and a modified concurrent breadth-first search algorithm. We evaluate our technique on both real-world and artificial test cases including non-Manhattan geometry. Experimental resu...
We give a formal definition of a new product of bipartite digraphs, the Manhattan product, and we study some of its main properties. It is shown that if all the factors of the above product are (directed) cycles, then the digraph obtained is a Manhattan street network. To this respect, it is proved that many properties of these networks, such as high symmetries and the presence of Hamiltonian c...
Stroke is a cardiovascular (CVD) disease caused by the failure of brain cells to get oxygen supply pose risk ischemic damage and result in death. This Disease can detect based on similarity symptoms experienced sufferer so that early steps be taking with appropriate counseling treatment. detecting requires machine learning method. In this research, author used one supervised classification meth...
Geometries with 45° line segments are often used in integrated circuit layouts, since they can save considerable area. In the limit, the introduction of 45° lines is only 5% less dense than optimal geometry, i.e. circular geometry, whereas manhattan geometry is 27% less dense [7]. Obviously any actual design cannot make use of this density factor everywhere but figure 1 illustrates a simple but...
We have applied the concept of fractional distance measures, proposed by Aggarwal et al. [1], to content-based image retrieval. Our experiments show that retrieval performances of these measures consistently outperform the more usual Manhattan and Euclidean distance metrics when used with a wide range of high-dimensional visual features. We used the parameters learnt from a Corel dataset on a v...
Based on a comparison of discharges for avoidable hospital conditions (AHCs), we find that Paris provides greater access to primary care than Manhattan. Age-adjusted AHC rates are more than 2.5 times as high in Manhattan as in Paris. In contrast, the difference in rates of hospital discharge for "marker conditions" are only about 20 percent higher in Manhattan. Rates of discharges for AHCs are ...
