Osteogenesis imperfecta is a genetic disorder characterised by fragility and multiple fractures of bones. Clinical signs and symptoms vary depending on the type of disease. Fractures of facial bones are rare compared with load-bearing long bones. We report a case of fracture of the mandible during yawning which was managed by open reduction and internal fixation.
Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease in which Langerhans cells, which are bone marrow-derived antigen-presenting cells, proliferate in single or multiple organs. We successfully treated a patient with unifocal LCH of the mandible with malocclusion due to a severe pathological fracture, using reconstruction with a vascularised free bone.
The mandible provides structural support for the teeth and a route for neural and vascular supply to the dentition, as well as sensory perception for the lower one-third of the face. Although the mandible is the largest and strongest facial bone, fractures frequently result as a sequela of facial trauma because of the mandible’s physical prominence in the lower face. Vehicular accidents and ass...
Purpose: The aim of this follow up clinical study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 2mm, 3-dimentional locking titanium miniplates. Patients and Method: A prospective randomized clinical trial was carried out on 10 patients with mandibular fractures. The patients were evaluated for the operating time, clinical assessment of mobility after fixation, occlusion, adequacy of reduction on postope...
Aims and objectives: To evaluate the efficiency of titanium lag screws in the management of oblique and sagittally displaced mandibular fractures. Also to analyze various complications encountered through this technique. Materials and methods: Twenty cases presenting with mandibular oblique, sagittaly displaced mandibular fractures requiring were selected in our study. Titanium lag screws were ...

INTRODUCTION Previous reports indicated that there is geographic and sociodemographic variation in the epidemiology of maxillofacial fractures. Audit of maxillofacial injuries managed at any institution is therefore necessary to understand the trends and proffer strategies for prevention. We therefore embarked on this study to determine the pattern of maxillofacial fractures and concomitant inj...
