In this paper a measurement method that allows the determination of the critical current density of superconducting tape from field mapping measurements is presented. This contact-free method allows obtaining characteristics of the superconductor as a function of the position and of the applied flux density. With some modifications, this technique can be used for reel-to-reel measurements. The ...

background due to the fundamental role of gripping in most upper limb activities, grip strength promotion is a chief goal in the treatment of patients with upper limb musculoskeletal disorders. kinesio taping is a novel and effective therapeutic technique believed to facilitate muscle contraction through stimulating mechanoreceptors and increasing the sensory feedback around the taped region. o...

The first complete magnetic recorder (wire on a drum) was constructed in 1898 by Poulsen (Denmark). In 1938 the first recorders using plastic tape with an iron oxide layer were used. Since then, magnetic sound recording has become the most popular way of storing broadcast programmes for transmission at any time. Early attempts with temporary disc recording and photographic recording proved unsu...

Ž . Ž . Superconductor films 25–125 mm thick were melt-grown under an elevated magnetic field 0–10 T . The degree of Ž . texture and transport critical current J of these films were enhanced by the application of a magnetic field. J increases c c with increasing magnetic field and the measured saturation magnetic field decreases with decreasing thickness of the film. This method provides for re...

A noncontact three-dimensional optical profiler for measuring surface roughness is described. The system consists of a reflection microscope, Mirau interferometer with a reference surface mounted on a piezoelectric transducer, CID detector array, frame grabber, and micro-computer. Interferometric phase-shifting techniques are used to obtain surface height information. The height measurements ar...

With the excitation and demagnetization of a magnet for magnetic resonance imaging in mind, we theoretically numerically investigated electromagnetic coupling--especially its dependence on round core radius $R$--of multifilament helically wound superconducting tapes under steady-state conditions constantly ramped field. We found that even rapidly field, coupling can be suppressed by reducing $R...

Abstract In this study, the repulsive force causing magnetic levitation for superconductive-assisted machining (SUAM) is calculated using finite element method. Although bulk superconductors have been used SUAM, here, we propose a tool that uses superconducting tape. To obtain stronger force, various models of SUAM are designed and calculated. The results show strong can be obtained by two perm...

1 Abstract In this paper, we evaluate storage system alternatives for movies-on-demand video servers. We begin by characterizing the movies-on-demand workload. Then we study disk farms in which one movie is stored per disk. This is a simple scheme, but it wastes substantial disk bandwidth, since disks holding less popular movies are under-utilized; also, good performance requires that movies be...

We consider a limit case of a system of two equations arising in magnetic recording for a one-dimensional domain. The system models the tape deflection when it is driven over a magnetic head profile, which is a known function. The system is reduced to a second order nonlinear equation, where the unknown u appears evaluated in a finite set of distinguished points {xi}i=1 of the domain.
