Department of Mathematics and Sciences Dhofar University, Salalah Oman [email protected] Abstract Legendre wavelets methods are commonly used for the numerical solution of integral equations. In this paper, we apply the Legendre wavelets method to approximate the solution of fractional integro-differential equations. Numerical examples are also presented to demonstrate the validity of the method....

Klein/Sine-Gordon equations are very important in that they can accurately model many essential physical phenomena. In this paper, we propose a new spectral method using Legendre wavelets as basis for numerical solution of Klein\Sine-Gordon Equations. Due to the good properties of wavelets basis, the proposed method can obtain good spatial and spectral resolution. Moreover, the presented method...

In this paper, we develop a framework to obtain approximate numerical solutions to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) involving fractional order derivatives using Legendre wavelets approximations. The continues Legendre wavelets constructed on [0, 1] are utilized as a basis in collocation method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique.

Physical Phenomena’s located around us are primarily nonlinear in nature and their solutions are of highest significance for scientists and engineers. In order to have a better representation of these physical models, fractional calculus is used. Fractional order oscillation equations are included among these nonlinear phenomena’s. To tackle with the nonlinearity arising, in these phenomena’s w...

Abstract We recall Mexican needlets from [5]. We derive an estimate for certain types of Legendre series, which we apply to the statistical properties of Mexican needlets. More precisely, we shall show that, under isotropy and Gaussianity assumptions, the Mexican needlet coefficients of a random field on the sphere are asymptotically uncorrelated, as the frequency parameter goes to infinity. Th...

A non-Gaussian detection in the WMAP 1-year data is reported. The detection has been found in the combined Q-V-W WMAP proposed by the WMAP team (Komatsu et al. 2003) after applying a wavelet technique based on the Spherical Mexican Hat Wavelet (SMHW). The skewness and the kurtosis of the SMHW coefficients are calculated at different scales (ranging from a few arcmins to tens of degrees). A non-...

We give the explicit time description of three following problems: dynamics and optimal dynamics for some important electromechanical system and Galerkin approximation for beam equation. All these problems are reduced to the problem of the solving of the systems of diierential equations with polynomial nonlinearities and with or without some constraints. The rst main part of our construction is...

Orthogonal Legendre moments are used in several pattern recognition and image processing applications. Translation and scale Legendre moment invariants were expressed as a combination of the approximate original Legendre moments. The shifted and scaled Legendre polynomials were expressed in terms of the original Legendre polynomials according to complicated and time-consuming algebraic relation...

Adrien-Marie Legendre (1752–1833) made great contributions to analysis, number theory, celestial mechanics, and practical science. His name is attached to the Legendre differential equation, Legendre polynomials, the Legendre transformation, the Legendre symbol in number theory, the Legendre conditions in calculus of variations, the Legendre relation for elliptic integrals, the Legendre duplica...

Accepted 4 April 2008 Copyright © EEF ISSN 1399-1183 Species distributional models based on lattice data often display spatial autocorrelation. Spatial autocorrelation means that observations from nearby locations are often more similar than would be expected on a random basis (Legendre and Legendre 1998). Spatial autocorrelation can arise in both species distributions and environmental variabl...
