Prostaglandin (PG) F2alpha released from the uterus in a pulsatile fashion is essential to induce regression of the corpus luteum (CL) in the cow. In addition to the uterus, the CL has also been recognized as a site of PGF(2alpha) production. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the detailed dynamics of the releasing profile of CL-derived PGF2alpha together with uterus-derived PGF2alpha dur...

Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial-like tissue (glands or stroma) outside the uterus, which induces a chronic inflammatory reaction. Although endometriosis impairs fertility, it does not usually completely prevent conception. The question of evidence based-medicine guidelines in endometriosis-associated infertility is weak in many situations. Therefore, we will highlight in...
A case is reported in which an elderly patient was admitted with signs and symptoms of an acute abdomen. A laparotomy revealed uterine rupture with free pus in the peritoneal cavity and subsequent histology of the uterus showed no evidence of malignancy.
This case report is an unusual presentation of fibroid uterus as coma. The patient developed a recurrent hypoglycemia possibly secondary to the insulin-like growth factor secreted from the fibroid. The hypoglycemic symptoms disappeared on removal of the fibroid. The histopathological examination revealed no evidence of malignancy.
A cycle of IVF was begun for her. After an antagonist cycle, 10 oocyte have been retrieved by puncture and three 8-cell grade 1 embryos have been freshly placed in the uterus. Four weeks after transferring the embryo, transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) was performed in which a gestational sac of about 4 mm without fetal pole and yolk sac were reported in the uterine cavity. No abnormality was report...
The central nervous system contains the nuclei at the origin of autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways to the uterus. Although the anatomical basis of these pathways is known, the conditions of their recruitment and their interactions in the context of copulation remain to be explored. We tested the hypothesis that some central mechanisms could simultaneously recruit both pathways to the uterus....
IT has long been known that the substance in the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland which produces contractions of the uterus is destroyed by alkalis in the cold [Guggenheim, 1914], is stable in weakly acid watery solution, and is destroyed by boiling in strong acids [Abel and Nagayama, 1920; Dale and Dudley, 1921]. Adams [1917] showed that when weakly acid extracts were heated the oxytocic ...
