BACKGROUND Cost consequences analysis was completed from randomized controlled trial (RCT) data for the Just-in-time (JIT) librarian consultation service in primary care that ran from October 2005 to April 2006. The service was aimed at providing answers to clinical questions arising during the clinical encounter while the patient waits. Cost saving and cost avoidance were also analyzed. The da...

This research presents a variation to the permutation ̄ow shop problem where Just In Time (JIT) production requirements are taken into account. The model developed in this research employs dual objectives. In addition to the traditional objective of minimizing the production makespan, minimization of Miltenburg’s material usage rate is also incorporated. In this model, multiple units of any pro...

Interpreted Java has poor performance. Therefore most Java Virtual Machines (JVM) contain a just-in-time compiler (JIT) that compiles the bytecode to the processor’s native instruction set. Most of these compilers are written in C and tightly integrated with the JVM. We describe a JIT compiler that is written in Java and retargetable to a different JVMs and CPUs.

Embedded platforms are resource-constrained systems in which performance of executed code is of critical importance. However, standard techniques such as full just-in-time(JIT) compilation and/or adaptive optimization (AO) may not be appropriate for this type of systems due to memory and compilation overheads. The research presented in this paper proposes a technique that combines some of the m...

Public Health Service Policy requires institutional animal care and use committees (IACUCs) to review and approve the animal care and use aspects of grant proposals submitted for funding. Initially, submission of verification of approval was required with submission of the proposal; however, in 2002, a ''just-in-time'' (JIT) process was begun to allow submission when it appeared that the propos...

Recently business process management has received a lot of attentions because of its potential to dramatically improve business efficiency. This paper describes an end-to-end scenario for the business process execution and monitoring for the JIT (Just In Time) schedule execution. JIT is a manufacturing method developed in Japan and later quickly spread into other countries. The purpose of JIT i...

Investment in inventory absorbs a large portion of the working capital of a company and often it represents a large portion of the total assets of a business. By improving return on investment by increasing the rate of inventory turnover, management often wants to ensure economic efficiency. Effective inventory management enables a firm to provide lower costs, rapid response and flexibility for...

JavaScript is emerging as the ubiquitous language of choice for web browser applications. These applications increasingly execute on embedded mobile devices, and thus demand responsiveness (i.e., short pause times for system activities, such as compilation and garbage collection). To deliver responsiveness, web browsers, such as Firefox, have adopted trace-based Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation. ...

Emerging computing models and applications are continuously challenging the operating system scheduler. Multimedia applications require predictable performance and stringent timing guarantees. Embedded systems need to minimize power consumption. Network routers demand isolated execution of active network programs. Meeting all these requirements requires specialized scheduling policies, which tr...
