W consider the problem of allocating demand arising from multiple products to multiple production facilities with finite capacity and load-dependent lead times. Production facilities can choose to manufacture items either to stock or to order. Products vary in their demand rates, holding and backordering costs, and service-level requirements. We develop models and solution procedures to determi...

Numerous studies have demonstrated that firms consider multiple criteria when selecting key suppliers. In this study, we present, based on econometric choice modeling framework, how manufacturing managers/executives tradeoff between cost, delivery, flexibility, and service features in the supplier selection process, given acceptable quality. Empirical data for this study was collected from manu...

in this paper we propose a simple non-parametric model for multiple crite-ria supplier selection problem. the proposed model does not generate a zeroweight for a certain criterion and ranks the suppliers without solving the modeln times (one linear programming (lp) for each supplier) and therefore allowsthe manager to get faster results. the methodology is illustrated using anexample.

Supplier evaluation and selection are critical decision making processes that require consideration of a variety of attributes. Several studies have been performed for effective evaluation and selection of suppliers by utilizing several techniques such as linear weighting methods, mathematical programming models, statistical methods and AI based techniques. One of the successful evaluation meth...

The use of global suppliers has increased considerably over the last three decades. Operations management theory establishes that global sourcing requires more units of inventory, but since these units are often procured at a lower cost from global suppliers the capital invested in inventory and the consequent financial burden may increase or decrease with global sourcing. This study provides r...

due to the importance of supplier selection issue in supply chain management (scm) and ,also,  the increasing tendency of organizations to their social responsibilities, in this paper, we survey the supplier selection issue as a multi objective problem while considering the factor of corporate social responsibility (csr) as a mathematical parameter. the purpose of this paper is to design a mode...

We analysed 90,000 contracts involving UK local authorities between 2015 and 2019 to examine patterns potential drivers of regional sourcing. found councils in Scotland, Wales Northern Ireland are much more likely select suppliers based within their regions compared with counterparts England. no discernible trend English increasingly preferring suppliers, correlation party-political control sug...

Extensive research has been conducted on supplier evaluation and selection as a strategic and crucial component of supply chain management in recent years. However, few articles in the previous literature have been dedicated to the use of fuzzy inference systems as an aid in decision-making. Therefore, this essay attempts to demonstrate the application of this method in evaluating suppliers, ba...

We consider a single stage periodic-review inventory system with backorders and dual sourcing: Replenishment can occur through a regular channel and/or a more expensive expedited channel with a smaller lead time. Globally optimal policies for these problems are in general highly complex; we therefore introduce a simple class of heuristic base stock policies. We call our class of policies the si...

a r t i c l e i n f o This paper aims to investigate the effects of supplier collaboration on the firm innovation performance as well as the enabling characteristics of the purchasing function. This is an original contribution as few papers empirically test the effect of supplier collaboration (meant as supplier involvement, development, and integration) on innovation performance and — simultan...
