INTRODUCTION One of the uses of white mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is as an apical barrier in immature teeth. Although this treatment has been reported to have high success rates, a number of cases of discoloration have been noted. The aim of this research was to investigate the color stability of white MTA in contact with various solutions used in endodontics. METHODS The change in color...

This work presents an investigation of kinetics copper leaching from mill tailings with hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite at room temperature in filtration mode. The concentration varied 0.05 to 0.5 M 0.025 0.1 respectively. When the samples were leached sequence five-hour solutions acid, then six-hour hypochlorite, maximum degree extraction into solution was 32.62 %. And case inverse d...

Decontamination of bacterial endospores such as Bacillus anthracis has traditionally required the use of harsh or caustic chemicals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a chlorine dioxide decontaminant in killing Bacillus anthracis spores in solution and on a human skin simulant (porcine cadaver skin), compared to that of commonly used sodium hypochlorite or soapy water decont...

Organic matter removal is accomplished rapidly and efficiently without removing carbonates by treating samples wi~h a sodium hypochlorite solution. Quantities of organic matter lefr in samples by this treatment are commonly less than remain after hydrogen peroxide treatment of acidified samples. Stable suspensions result from the use of a sodium carbonate-sodium bicarbonate solution to wash and...

DIAGNOdent is a laser fluorescence device used for dental caries diagnosis in occlusal and smooth surfaces. Despite the promising preliminary results, the molecules involved in the increase of fluorescence in carious lesions remain unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the laser fluorescence readings before and after changes in the organic material of occlusal carious lesions in primary...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the tissue dissolution ability of different irrigating solutions associated or not to ultrasonic agitation. Ninety bovine pulp fragments (n=10 per group) were weighed and then placed individually in Eppendorf test tubes containing the following irrigants: G1- 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl); G2- 2.5% NaOCl + ultrasonic agitation (US); G3- 2.5% NaOCl + 0.2%...

Standard precautions require all clinical equipment to be cleaned between patient use.1 Cleaning equipment of patients colonized with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) had previously involved a 2-step cleaning processwith detergent andwater followed by disinfection with hypochlorite solution 1,000 ppm using a disposable detergent wipe or paper towel. Environmental services have been using...

The first dual activatable hypochlorite ((-)OCl)-sensing probe was developed, based on a new proof-of-concept design involving signal-activatable (1)H chemical probes using the triple-resonance NMR technique. The probe enabled fluorescence-(1)H MR dual turn-on detection of (-)OCl in solution and in crude tissue extracts.
