Methylcyclohexane (MCH)-toluene (TOL) chemical hydride cycles as hydrogen carrier systems are successful with the selective dehydrogenation of MCH to TOL, which has been achieved only using precious Pt-based catalysts. Herein, we report improved selectivity using non-precious metal nickel-based bimetallic catalysts, where the second metal occupies the unselective step sites.

Colloidal synthesis routes have been recently used to fabricate heterogeneous catalysts with more controllable and homogeneous properties. Herein a method was developed to modify the surface composition of colloidal nanocrystal catalysts and to purposely introduce specific atoms via ligands and change the catalyst reactivity. Organic ligands adsorbed on the surface of iron oxide catalysts were ...

Spent catalysts are principally solid waste which that coming out from nitrogenous fertilizer industry, during the production of ammonia, resulting in the production of large amount of solid waste containing nickel, which is the spent or deactivated catalysts. These catalysts contain from 12-14% nickel based on the production process in fertilizer industry disposal of spent catalyst is a proble...

In this paper, catalytic oxidation of CO over the LaFe1-xCuxO3 (x= 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) perovskite-type oxides was investigated. The catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method and characterized by XRD, BET, FT-IR, H2-TPR and SEM methods. The catalytic activity of catalysts was tested in catalytic oxidation of CO. XRD patterns confirmed the synthesized perovskites to be single-phase perovskite-ty...

Carbon-based cathode catalysts derived from a hyperbranched iron phthalocyanine polymer (HB-FePc) were characterized, and their active-site formation mechanism was studied by synchrotron-based spectroscopy. The properties of the HB-FePc catalyst are compared with those of a catalyst with high oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity synthesized from a mixture of iron phthalocyanine and phenolic...

The high cost of the platinum-based cathode catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) has impeded the widespread application of polymer electrolyte fuel cells. We report on a new family of non-precious metal catalysts based on ordered mesoporous porphyrinic carbons (M-OMPC; M = Fe, Co, or FeCo) with high surface areas and tunable pore structures, which were prepared by nanocasting mesop...

Density functional theory (DFT) has been applied to study potential ammonia borane (AB) dehydrogenation pathways via new bifunctional ruthenium-based catalysts, alongside their computationally-designed iron-based counterparts (i.e., four catalysts), using the wB97XD (dispersion-included) functional. The efficiency of each catalyst was under scrutiny based on the addition of ammonia borane, with...

Photoelectrochemical cells are used to split hydrogen and oxygen from water molecules to generate chemical fuels to satisfy our ever-increasing energy demands. However, it is a major challenge to design efficient catalysts to use in the photoelectochemical process. Recently, research has focused on carbon-based catalysts, as they are nonprecious and environmentally benign. Interesting advances ...

eethylene polymerization catalysts became available in an enormous variety. the challenge in this research is to find catalysts that are able to connect ethylene molecules in such a way that not only linear chains are produced but variations like branched materials that possess very interesting mechanical properties like linear low density polyethylene (lldpe). in this contribution, three diffe...

The direct amination of aliphatic C-H bonds represents a most valuable transformation in organic chemistry. While a number of transition metal-based catalysts have been developed and investigated for this purpose, the possibility to execute this transformation with biological catalysts has remained largely unexplored. Here, we report that cytochrome P450 enzymes can serve as efficient catalysts...
