In this paper, we propose specular‐free (SF) surface to provide excellent image quality under a bright environment. By optimizing the anti‐glare (AG) layer and low‐reflection layer, specular reflection diffuse reduced up 78% 25%, respectively, compared conventional AG. Using SF technique, it is possible remove inconvenience of glare improve perceptual quality.

PURPOSE To assess the validity and repeatability of the Aston Halometer. SETTING University clinic, United Kingdom. DESIGN Prospective, repeated-measures experimental study. METHODS The halometer comprises a bright light-emitting-diode (LED) glare source in the center of an iPad4. Letters subtending 0.21° (~0.3 logMAR) were moved centrifugally from the LED in 0.05 degree steps in 8 orient...

PURPOSE Paulsson and Sjöstrand have suggested that the light scattering factor (LSF) can be estimated by using the equation: LSF = L/E (M2/M1-1). Here L is the space average luminance of the target, E is the illuminance of the glare source, and M2 and M1 are modulation contrast thresholds in the presence and absence of the glare source. To compensate for change of adaptation. Abrahamsson and Sj...

PURPOSE The Salisbury Eye Evaluation Project is a longitudinal study of risk factors for age-related eye diseases and the impact of eye disease and visual impairment on physical disability. In this article, the authors report the prevalence of visual impairment in their population and explore the relations among the various measures of visual function. METHODS A population-based sample of 252...

In this paper, we would like to introduce a second generation of headlight glare simulator to be used with a driving simulator that significantly improves spatial and brightness accuracy of previously developed prototype headlight glare simulator (Fullerton & Peli, 2009). The system combined a programmable off–the-shelf LED display board and a beamsplitter so that the LED lights, representing h...

F orward light scatter measurement provides information about optical imperfections as the cause of glare disability. Glare disability refers to a reduction in visual performance caused by a glare source, resulting in retinal contrast loss secondary to intraocular stray light. Lens extraction reverses the strong age increase in stray light, which is considered an independent source of symptoms....

The glare effect (GE) is an illusion in which a white region appears self-luminous when surrounded by linearly decreasing luminance ramps. It has been shown that the magnitude of the luminosity effect can be modulated by manipulating the luminance range of the gradients. In the present study we tested the thresholds for the GE on two groups of adults: young (20-30 years old) and elderly (60-75 ...

Irradiation of the primate lens by near-ultraviolet wavelengths results in a blue fluorescence, which can be an intraocular source of veiling glare. This study quantitated the fluorescence intensity as a function of exciting intensity and wavelength. As the exciting wavelength was increased from 360 to 430 nm, the decreasing fluorescence intensity (for equal radiant exposures) was partially off...

The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of colored lenses on visual attributes related to sports activities. The subjects were 24 students (11 females, 13 males; average age 21.0 ±1.2 years) attending a sports university. Lenses of 5 colors were used: colorless, light yellow, dark yellow, light gray, and dark gray. For each lens, measurements were performed in a fixed order: contras...
